We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Curriculum Quality: We examined the structure and educational value of the lessons provided by each school. It was important to see whether they use modern, comprehensive teaching methods.

Instructor Credentials: We checked the background and professional experience of the staff teaching the students. Priority was given to establishments employing certified educators and experienced professionals.

Scheduling Flexibility: We evaluated how easily students can book lessons and whether schools offer weekend or evening hours. Options that include convenient pick-up and drop-off services scored higher in our assessment.

Value and Pricing: We compared the hourly rates and package deals against the quality of instruction offered. We also looked at hidden fees and cancellation policies to ensure fair pricing.

Website: http://www.indianadriving.com/

Address: 985 Keystone Way N, Carme

Contact: (317) 844-5542

Hours: Monday – Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Sunday: Closed

AA Indiana Driving School, Inc. stood out for the backgrounds of its driving instructors. Learners receive practical education from experienced current and former school teachers rather than typical sales personnel.

This educational approach ensures that students are learning from professionals who genuinely understand how to communicate effectively.

The curriculum is self-paced, allowing students to access theoretical materials at any time of day or night.

Even better, they provide a road test waiver. This saves you a trip to the local Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) branch for the final exam.

Just be prepared for a crowded schedule. Summer enrollment gets extremely busy, often making it difficult to complete all required modules quickly during peak months.

We recommend booking in advance to secure a spot!

Pros

  • Directed by licensed professional educators
  • 24/7 access to self-paced theoretical materials
  • Offers final road test waivers
  • Long-established history dating back to 1945

Cons

  • Highly crowded summer enrollment periods
  • Difficult to finish modules quickly during peak season

AA Driving School has been excellent. I enrolled both my daughters here, and their instructors (John & Greg) were absolutely perfect. They were kind, communicative, and patient. Both daughters felt at ease and confident during their lessons. The business itself is family-owned and runs very professionally. I always appreciated their email reminders for lessons and their willingness to help when or if we needed to reschedule. I highly recommend this place! A++

I came to AA Driving School absolutely terrified of driving. Fast forward just six classes, and I’ve passed my test! That really speaks to how excellent the instructors and staff are here.. they make you feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. Driving with Mr. Singh was an amazing experience, and the office staff is so welcoming and wholesome. Take it from someone learning in their late 20s: if they gave me the confidence to drive, they can help anyone.

Thank you, AA!

2. Drive Zone

Website: http://www.drivezone.net/

Address: 5610 Crawfordsville Rd # 908

Contact: (317) 602-8497

Hours: Monday – Thursday: 1:30 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday: 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM, Saturday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Sunday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Nervous beginners often need a highly focused environment to feel comfortable behind the wheel. Drive Zone provides exactly that.

The school offers a specialized beginner curriculum combined with private, one-on-one sessions in modern vehicles to keep students safe and collision-free.

When my nephew needed extra practice before his driving test, I tagged along on one of these sessions to observe their teaching style firsthand. The instructor was very patient, and parents are always welcome to ride along without needing prior arrangements.

We really love this transparent approach since it builds a lot of trust between the staff and the families.

They also offer flexible payment plans that help ease the financial burden of comprehensive driver education.

The primary downside we encountered was logistical. Certain practical meeting locations lack a physical office and require meetings in public parking lots, which can feel less convenient if you need a waiting room.

Pros

  • Modern learning curriculum implementation
  • Private one-on-one driving sessions
  • Flexible payment plans available
  • Parents are allowed to ride along anytime

Cons

  • Lacks physical offices at certain meeting spots
  • Requires meeting in public parking lots sometimes

Our daughter struggled with taking her driving test through the BMV. She struggled with some test taking anxiety so we booked a driving session with Drive Zone, specifically with Stephen. He was wonderful! He had a calm presence along with an encouraging disposition which caused our daughter to feel more at ease making her drive lesson an anxiety-free, productive experience. Stephen was just awesome and our daughter is now a much more confident driver and now has her license. Thank you Drive Zone for recommending Stephen. We are forever grateful.

Busy schedules can make it incredibly tough to coordinate transportation for driving lessons. Thankfully, we Hoosiers have Coastline Academy Driving School.

The school offers complimentary pickup and drop-off services directly to the student’s home or workplace. Some students actually schedule lessons around errands, like stopping by grocery stores or nearby flower shops, making the pickup service even more convenient.

Their staff is consistently praised for cultivating a calm learning atmosphere. They also reportedly prioritize hygiene by sanitizing steering wheels before every single session.

Booking is handled through a modern digital system, making scheduling and progress tracking exceptionally straightforward.

Just note that this local branch is currently not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which might be a minor concern for those who prefer that formal seal of approval before booking.

Pros

  • Complimentary pick-up and drop-off services
  • Strict vehicle sanitization protocols
  • Patient staff, and calm environment
  • Modern digital booking and tracking system

Cons

  • Local branch lacks BBB accreditation
  • Requires scheduling exclusively by appointment

Darren is a great instructor. He explained the right-of-way rules and lane positioning very clearly. I started the lesson a bit nervous, but his encouragement helped my confidence level increase significantly. The SMOG technique he taught is very helpful. Highly recommend!

My experience with coastline was very pleasant! Especially I had the luxury to have all 3 drivers as my instructor! My tip for you people new to trying coastline is that, if you are booking a lesson, make sure to have Darren at least once! He will train you to perfection! He was the instructor I can’t give enough credit to honestly! He worked on every point of the flaws for beginner drivers,  my reaction, judgement, and scanning ability drastically improved just by booking him! God bless Darren, Michael, and Lily! All are amazing with their strong parts!

If you’re thinking of transitioning into a career in the transport industry, 160 Driving Academy is a reliable option.

The school delivers intensive, fast-tracked commercial training programs designed to help students pass their exams quickly and secure employment.

A close friend of mine recently completed their program to earn their commercial license, and I was genuinely impressed by how quickly they received job placement assistance after graduating.

The curriculum is comprehensive, covering both yard skills and supervised on-road practice under the guidance of highly competent trainers. These rapid programs are specifically designed for fast completion and certification.

Just keep in mind that this school serves a very narrow demographic. The curriculum is geared almost entirely toward commercial transport licensing rather than everyday passenger vehicle education.

Teen learners or adult beginners looking for a basic driver’s license will need to look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Fast-tracked commercial certification programs
  • Comprehensive yard and on-road curriculum
  • Dedicated and highly competent trainers
  • Career counseling and job placement assistance

Cons

  • Geared exclusively toward commercial licensing
  • Not suitable for standard passenger vehicle education

I would like to thank y’all. All the 160driving academy’s staff…leaders, all the instructors, especially Mr Jason for being patient, resilient and professional… thank you so much and may God bless all of you.!!!

The whole team and 160 driving Academy was awesome. I had a really good instructor on the yard is about done great in the office. Rob was my instructor. I also dealt with Jason, Alisha and matt

5. Circle City Driving Academy

Address: 5525 Georgetown Rd Suite G

Contact: (317) 401-8000

Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday – Sunday: By Appointment

Anxiety behind the wheel is a major hurdle that prevents many people from mastering the rules of the road. Circle City Driving Academy addresses this by integrating mindfulness techniques in its lessons.

These methods reduce physical tension and anxiety, helping learners relax and build confidence on the road. They also implement a distinct observational strategy to instill safe, defensive driving habits from day one.

Students also benefit from an advanced virtual classroom that keeps them engaged with interactive media before they even step into a vehicle.

Multiple tiered packages are available to accommodate different budgets and practice requirements.

We do recommend reviewing the school’s scheduling rules before signing up, though. They enforce a strict cancellation policy that charges a significant fee if a session is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, leaving little room for sudden emergencies or last-minute illnesses.

Pros

  • Distinct strategy for defensive driving
  • Specialized mindfulness techniques for anxiety relief
  • Advanced and interactive virtual classroom
  • Multiple tiered packages for various budgets

Cons

  • Strict 24-hour cancellation policy
  • Significant fees for last-minute cancellations

My son gained confidence in driving through these 1 on 1 driving lessons!  Instructors were very helpful and I, with the help of Circle City Driving Academy, now have a teenager with his Indiana Drivers License!  Thank you to all of the instructors!!

I really enjoyed my experience with the Circle City Driving Academy! All of the instructors did a very good job preparing me for real life situations and I gained a lot of confidence through this course. After each lesson, the instructors give constructive and helpful advice  so I knew exactly what areas I needed to improve on.
