We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Technological Capabilities: We examined each clinic's diagnostic and treatment equipment to ensure they utilize modern advancements. Facilities offering cutting-edge solutions for dry eye and myopia scored higher on our list.

Service Accessibility: We looked closely at operating hours and location convenience to see how easily patients can get an appointment. Clinics with weekend availability or extended evening hours stood out for accommodating busy schedules.

Patient Care Range: Evaluating the breadth of services allowed us to identify practices capable of treating the whole family. We favored locations that seamlessly manage both routine adult exams and specialized pediatric assessments.

Insurance and Costs: Understanding out-of-pocket expenses is crucial for uninsured individuals and families on a budget. We prioritized clinics that are transparent with their pricing and accept a diverse array of vision insurance plans.

Finding the right provider for your vision health can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re balancing routine check-ups with specialized care. I admit that it’s not as easy as getting treatment in my favorite aesthetic clinics.

Of course, you’ll want to go the best eye clinic in Indianapolis, so your family’s vision is in capable hands. Also, feeling comfortable and confident in the exam chair is essential, especially if you’re having kids checked.

To help you get started, I explored the local landscape, looking for practices that offer advanced treatments and welcoming environments. Let me share some excellent local options that prioritize your eye health without judgment.

Contact: 317-278-1470 | Fax: 317-274-1475 | [email protected]

Although they operate as a teaching facility, the Indianapolis Eye Care Center is open to the general public. You don’t need to be a university student to book an appointment here.

They also use advanced equipment like the Keratograph 5M to diagnose complex dry eye diseases rather than just masking symptoms.

With this level of attention, though, it’s understandable that their comprehensive primary care exams take longer than a typical private practice visit.

They’re only open weekdays as well, making scheduling tricky if you work standard hours.

Nonetheless, their personalized vision therapy programs are excellent for correcting binocular vision issues and visual processing challenges in adults and children alike.

Pros

  • Accessible location with free surface parking
  • No health or vision insurance requirement
  • Emergency after-hours care system
  • Comprehensive on-site eyewear selection

Cons

  • No weekend availability
  • Extended primary care exam durations

Everything about the experience was top-notch

I just had my annual eye exam and picked out new glasses.   Everything about the experience was top notch and suited to my needs.  I have been going to this center for many years and love my eye doctor, her students and the staff.

The eye doctor was very thorough

I recently had an eye exam at this facility. The technician was very thorough and very easy to interact with. The eye doctor was very thorough and made sure all my questions were answered. Same for the technician. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and I was processed quickly. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking to have an eye examination done.

I recently spoke with a friend who visited this specific location, and they were thrilled! They loved how seamlessly they were able to purchase discounted designer frames right after their digital eye check.

Keep in mind that their starting costs can be quite steep if you’re uninsured. Even their basic contact lens exam comes at a high base fee. Still, their advanced digital methods go far beyond standard manual checks to thoroughly assess your ocular health.

  • Open daily
  • Transparent online pricing for exams
  • Dedicated care for school-aged children
  • Offers retail frames and repairs

Cons

  • Not for young kids; minimum age is 5 years old
  • Expensive rates

Great staff

You’re the best, pleasant, and most eye-opening experiences I’ve had at an eye doctor. Yes, pun intended. Great staff, Stephanie especially, very much appreciate Dr Emmons’s knowledge and candor, would definitely recommend to anyone needing eye care.

They were very nice

I did not know it was in the mall. I hate the mall and ofc I couldn’t find the office. I was very grumpy about it. They were really nice about the whole ordeal and were calm and patient, despite me not being either. She talked me through the mall and got me to the to right place. They were very nice once I was there too, despite me being a little grumpy.

Cannot recommend this place enough!

I have been going to BIS since I was 3 years old and have had nothing but GREAT experiences!! For all the 22 years I’ve been here my go to is Dr. Rich! She is kind, compassionate, and always does a great job explaining everything! This last time I got new frames Theresa helped me and made the process SO FUN. I went in knowing what I DID NOT like and ended the appointment picking EXACTLY THAT! Haha! I am so grateful to her for getting me out of my comfort zone! Cannot recommend this place enough!!

Dr. Huffman did a great job

Dr. Huffman did a great job getting my vision requirements figured out, took the time to answer my questions regarding issues I had be experiencing.  Staff took the time to help me find frames that worked and got the vision point for the Progressive Vision just right.  They did a great job and made this a very smooth visit.  Extremely pleased with the glasses and experience.

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

With a rich history of providing preventative medicine since 1965, Clearview Eye Care distinctly offers integrated cosmetic services alongside standard vision care.

I personally tried a similar integrated setup recently, and being able to consult about the cosmetics in the same building as my eye doctor was incredibly convenient.

They also provide extensive surgical care here. Procedures like trabeculectomy are handled directly in the office, which is fantastic.

While they have an online portal for medical bills, you can’t pay for contacts or glasses online. Instead, you’ll need to pay for those over the phone or in person.

Plus, their strict Monday through Friday schedule offers no weekend appointment slots.

Pros

  • Multi-disciplinary team of ophthalmologists and optometrists
  • Extensive insurance network acceptance
  • Bilingual providers available on staff
  • Secure online medical bill payments

Cons

  • No weekend appointment slots
  • In-person or phone payments required for eyewear

Awesome staff

Awesome staff from check in all the way to check out.  One of the appointments I have each year that is pleasant.  Great feeling welcome.  Dr Willbrandt is amazing!  Makes you feel comfortable and at ease with his humor.  All the staff at this office are pleasant. Very courteous.

The office staff is friendly and polite

I have always gotten very good care from Dr. LaTona. The office staff is friendly and polite. My only negative is it’s always a 2 hour time frame for your appointment. Don’t know if that is because of the heavy patient load or another reason

5. Infinity Eye Care

Infinity Eye Care stays at the forefront of wearable optical technology by fitting patients with innovative eyewear. For instance, their Nuance Audio Glasses use smart tech to enhance your hearing while sharpening your vision.

They also offer myopia control for kids here. One of their best products is the Ortho-K reshaping lenses, which can be worn during sleep to temporarily correct myopia symptoms.

Do note that if you simply want non-corrective colored lenses for a Halloween party, however, you’ll still need to undergo a full prescription fitting process first.

It’s also worth mentioning that they require a co-pay for all frame repairs, even with their yearly guarantee.

As for their established patients experiencing less urgent optical issues who cannot visit the office, their convenient telehealth consultations are an excellent resource.

Pros

  • Extended evening hours on select weekdays
  • Early morning appointments available
  • Dedicated emergency eye care protocols
  • Integrated online shopping store

Cons

  • Mandatory fitting for cosmetic contact lenses
  • Required co-payments for all eyewear repairs

They make me feel special

Dr. Mark Snyder and his staff always make me feel special. He takes time to explain his findings and answer all my questions. Dr. Snyder and the staff are able to tell me my anticipated copay costs. I highly recommend this practice for your eye care needs.

Their eyeglass selection is amazing!

Both doctors & their staff are helpful & extremely nice to their patients . Both doctors are easy to talk to & are very thorough. They have been a much needed asset in making me see better. Their eyeglass selection is amazing! I have a hard time picking just one. The lady who helped me find the right frames & did all of the measurements that were needed – was a tremendous help to me today. So glad that I go there now!
