Contact: +13176386565
Hours: Sunday to Thursday: 4:30 pm to 9 pm (bar to close), Friday and Saturday: 4:30 pm to 10 pm (bar to close)
Craving the vibrant taste of the ocean right in the middle of a landlocked city can feel like a tall order. Fortunately, Salt on Mass’s strict no-freezer-scratch kitchen philosophy ensures that every piece of wild-caught seafood here tastes incredibly fresh.
I recently visited for a date night, and the upscale coastal atmosphere made me feel miles away from the Midwest.
They offer premium steaks alongside delicate fish dishes, making it easy to satisfy diverse palates. The thoughtful beverage program adds a layer of sophistication, featuring handcrafted cocktails that pair beautifully with your meal.
That said, the dining room is highly sought after for pre-theater dinners and celebrations because of its prime downtown location. You should expect a rather loud and bustling environment during peak hours, which might not suit those seeking a completely quiet evening.
friendly and knew the menu with excellent recommendations!

Everything was amazing!
My husband Brett and I dined here a few days ago. Everything was amazing! The food could have been a 0 out of 10, but still would give this restaurant a 10 because of our server. Hannah (spelled the same backwards) was the best part of the whole experience. My husband and I own a couple of restaurants and we know how hard it is to find great help. Hannah is 100% a keeper! For the record, the food was also a 10. We will be back.Google Review

2. The Fountain Room

Website: https://www.thefountainroom.com/
Address: 830 Massachusetts Ave Suite 1480, Indianapolis, IN 46204
Contact: +14632383800
Hours: Monday to Thursday: 4 pm to 10 pm, Friday: 4 pm to 11 pm, Saturday: 10 am to 11 pm, Sunday: 10 am to 9 pm
The Fountain Room screams fancy with opulent velvet banquettes and glowing chandeliers, but it doesn’t feel stuffy. It sits squarely in a trendy lifestyle district, making it a natural starting point for a memorable evening.
The menu reimagines classic American fare, elevating nostalgic favorites alongside premium wagyu and fresh oysters. You get the robust flavors of a classic steakhouse served in a much more relaxed, visually stunning environment.
While the atmosphere is undeniably captivating, occasional inconsistencies in food execution mean some dishes might arrive slightly under-seasoned. However, the technically excellent hospitality ensures you always feel well cared for during your visit.
the best French dip I’ve had in my life
The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was just right as well! I had the French dip and it was the best French dip I’ve had in my life. My date had the sea bass and she thought it was delicious. My friend had the ribeye and said it was one of the best he’d ever had, but a couple of the people at our table had the filet and they weren’t that impressed. I’m not a big fan of a filet cut in general, so I can’t chime in one way or the other. I do think the ribeye looked delicious, so I would try that if I came back.

it was so delicious!
Wow! Start to finish wow! I don’t even know how to articulate the experience, but I’ll try. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our water glasses were never empty. The server, Meg, was just the right amount of attentive and gave us alone time too. She had great recommendations! I had the French dip and it was so delicious! My dude had the pork tenderloin and the way the chef married the apples was next level. The detail in the decor was stunning and the care they took in the bathrooms was wonderful. Highly recommend!

3. Bluebeard

Address: 653 Virginia Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46203
Contact: (317) 686-1580
Hours: Monday to Saturday: 11 am to 3 pm (lunch), Monday to Thursday: 5 pm to 10 pm (dinner), Friday and Saturday: 5 pm to 11 pm (dinner), Sunday: 5 pm to 10 pm (dinner)
A genuine farm-to-table philosophy drives Bluebeard, relying on deep relationships with regional growers to source the absolute best ingredients. During my last visit, the inventive contemporary American dishes showcased flavors I had never encountered before.
Every plate here features scratch-made components, heavily supported by the phenomenal bread from their in-house bakery.
The restaurant operates out of a beautifully renovated historic warehouse, wrapping you in an industrial yet incredibly cozy atmosphere. This unique setting has rightfully helped position the venue as a pioneer in the city’s culinary landscape.
That said, you should be prepared for significant wait times if you simply walk in because they only accept limited reservations. Planning ahead is essential, but the expertly curated wine pairings make the wait worthwhile.
Both were elegantly layered in flavors and texture.
Sat at the bar and the service was outstanding. Fantastic atmosphere. The drinks were fire. Highly recommend the monkey house if you’re a bourbon fan. I had the hamachi crudo and the pork sugo. Both were elegantly layered in flavors and texture. Hoping to try the tasting menu next time I go.

you can trust the dish will be more than impeccable
Bluebeard provides a new daily menu. Their waitstaff, including the chef, are extremely accommodating when it comes to allergies. Whatever the chef curates, you can trust the dish will be more than impeccable – expect umami! Exceptional gratitude goes to this establishment as it can be challenging to find excellent dishes that can accommodate challenging allergies. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse delivers a vibrant dining experience with American steakhouse classics and lively jazz music. The space feels much warmer and more personalized than a typical corporate dining room.
Diners flock here for the premium hand-cut steaks and fresh seafood, often paired with an award-winning selection of wines. The menu continually evolves to feature luxury ingredients, ensuring there’s always something intriguing to taste.
They’re also perfectly capable of hosting private events and larger celebrations.
On the downside, some guests have encountered varied pacing in service and occasional slip-ups in steak preparation.
made us feel completely at home
We had an excellent time at Sullivan’s thanks to our awesome waiter Courtland. He was VERY helpful with our menu questions & extremely thorough when walking us through the menu. We don’t usually eat at steakhouses, so we had a lot to ask. He made us feel completely at home & helped us pick exactly what we were looking for. We loved the decor and my cocktail (strawberry cucumber) was delicious.
The charbroiled oysters were my favorite part. Thank you to Courtland!!

5. Ocean Prime

Address: 8555 N. River Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240
Contact: (317) 569-0975

Ocean Prime offers both high-end cuts of beef and delicate ocean catches, so you don’t have to have that classic dinner debate. The expansive menu features visually stunning dishes, alongside an impressive array of handcrafted cocktails.
I recommend them for closing business deals and hosting milestone anniversaries because of the sophisticated atmosphere. The dedicated private dining rooms also offer an extra layer of exclusivity for your most important gatherings.
Adding to their strengths is the high level of hospitality the staff shows, which clients appreciate.
Naturally, this level of luxury comes with premium pricing, which might make it less accessible for a casual weeknight outing. However, the flawless service and elegant terrace seating justify the investment for a truly special event.
a memorable dinner
I expected a quality experience, I was not excepting THIS level of quality – I wish I could give them another star. The service was outstanding, the staff were so attentive and knowledge about the menu. Everything was perfect, they created an environment that was so welcoming. It was perfect for my company Christmas dinner, my management was very pleased with this restaurant. Cannot recommend this location enough, it was a memorable dinner.

I recently celebrated my 30th anniversary at Ocean Prime—and I’m glad I did. The atmosphere was just right: elegant and relaxing. Service was professional, yet warm and friendly.
