I was headed to the farmers market on a sunny morning, tote bag in hand, only planning to grab some fresh produce.
But then, the smell of freshly baked bread hit me, and I couldn’t resist stopping by the vintage ring booth. Before I knew it, I’d totally forgotten my grocery list and filled up a basket with all sorts of goodies.
It’s more than saying Indianapolis’ markets are just places to shop; they’re little adventures, somehow.
And after too many weekends of wandering through them, I’ve come up with a list of the best ones to visit so you can check them out too.
1. Broad Ripple Farmers Market

Website: https://www.broadrippleindy.org/farmers-market/
Address: 1115 Broad Ripple Ave, Broad Ripple Middle School
Contact: +1 317-251-2782
When: November to April, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Saturdays)
Pricing: $$
The Broad Ripple Farmers Market is your go-to spot if you love taking leisurely weekend strolls. Since 1994, it has supported local farmers and has grown to be the largest market in the city, open all year round.
I had the chance to visit the market recently and was lured by the mouthwatering aroma of breakfast sandwiches and the lively music. There were also well-arranged rows of fresh fruits, meat, and flowers, all from local farmers.
And while you’re there, swing by the BRFM info booth to say hi to the local volunteers. They’re super friendly and can help you make the most of your visit.
And since the market’s pretty spread out, I’d recommend printing a market map from here ahead of time. Trust me, it’ll save you some wandering.
Pro Tip: Bringing your pup? They’re welcome at Broad Ripple Farmers Market. Just keep them leashed, well-behaved, and away from the produce. You may also read the dog rules here. |
2. Vintage Market at Southport Antique Mall
– Media credit: southportantiquemall
Website: http://www.southportantiquemall.net/
Address: 2028 E Southport Rd
Contact: +1 317 786 8246
When: May, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Spring Outdoor Vintage Market) | September, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Fall Outdoor Vintage Market)
Pricing: $$$
Southport Antique Mall has just been hanging out in Indy for a good while now, but it’s not just sitting pretty anymore. After years of doing its own thing, it’s finally opened its doors to outside vendors. Yes, the more the merrier!
Twice a year, the place gets even livelier with its Spring and Fall Outdoor Vintage Markets. And fun fact: the mall has been around for over 25 years and spans 30,000 sq. ft.
From the mall’s name itself, you’ll be greeted with antiques, collectibles, and quirky vintage finds. You can bring home kitchenware, old-school clothing, funky figurines, retro accessories, and even art supplies like brushes and paints.
But I hate to break it to you, I find the prices here really expensive. But hey, that’s to be expected with vintage items, right?
Pro Tip: If you come by here, make sure to drop by The Vintage Gypsy for some fashion gems from the 1930s to the 2000s. It’s a favorite stall for many because they know how to curate unique accessories and outfits. |
3. Garfield Park Farmers Market
– Media credit: garfieldparkfarmersmarket
Website: https://www.garfieldparkfarmersmarket.com/
Address: 2345 Pagoda Dr
Contact: +1 317 763 0099
When: May to October, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Saturdays)
Pricing: $
Garfield Park Farmers Market is probably one of my go-to markets every year. It’s not because it was started in 2016, which makes the place legit, but because they created a community gathered through live music and wellness programs.
The market holds 40 local vendors—good luck finding and checking each one. They offer dairy products, meats, and baked goods. And for the health-conscious, you can grab vegan and gluten-free products here too.
You can bring your pet too, as long as you use non-retractable leashes no longer than 6 feet.
Pro Tip: Want to give back to the community while supporting local farmers? Volunteer at the Garfield Park Farmers Market. Not only will you get an insider’s view of how the market operates, but you’ll also score early access to the best products. |
4. The AMP at 16 Tech
– Media credit: theampindy
Website: https://theampindy.com/
Address: 1220 Waterway Blvd, Container 1
Contact: [email protected]
When: Operates year-round, but not every day | Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM | Saturday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM | Sunday: Closed; open for special events
Pricing: $$
Ask any foodie, and they’ll tell you that no market visit is complete without some great food. Luckily, The AMP at The 16 Tech Innovation District has plenty of that.
It’s an artisan marketplace and food hall with over 20 vendors, so you’ll have no shortage of options (though it actually makes it harder to choose). There’s really something for everyone here, like coffee, cocktails, seafood, pizza, and more.
And be sure to check out a few notable vendors like Boba & Everything, Butler’s Pizza, and The Bull Grill. They’re just a few of the highlights, but I tried them, and they really offer the best food.
It’s also not all about the food. After you’ve eaten, you can enjoy pop-up concerts or even catch a pinball tournament.
Pro Tip: Need parking? You’ve got options! There’s free street parking along Gent Ave, but if that fills up, you can park in the 16 Tech surface slots at 1210 and 1220 Waterway Boulevard. |
5. Irvington Farmers Market
– Media credit: irvingtonfarmersmarket
Website: https://www.irvingtongardenclub.com/dates-and-times
Address: 802 Ellenberger Pkwy W Dr
Contact: +3 317-495-4901
When: June to October, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Sundays)
Pricing: $$
The Irvington Farmers Market is just 5 miles east of downtown Indianapolis, so it’s a quick drive or bike ride away. It’s one of the bigger markets around, with about 70-100 vendors each time (that’s A LOT!).
You’ll find plenty of upcycled glass flowers, local honey, seasonal fruits, and even clothing. You must try Bitchin’ Babkas’ rainbow cookie with almonds, my favorite.
I also love Wildcraft Baking Company’s award-winning granola. They are securely packed for you to take home easily.
But the best part, apart from the food, is that the market happens rain or shine. Just be sure to check their social media now and then, as they might cancel if the park grounds are too wet.
Pro Tip: There are available parking slots in the lot next to the Ellenberger Park swimming pool and surrounding residential streets. Be sure to check that out! |
6. Emporium 40 Flea Market
– Media credit: farpointtoys
Website: https://www.emporiumfleamarkets.com/
Address: 1225 S High School Rd
Contact: +1 317-241-1865
When: Open year-round, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM (daily)
Pricing: $$
Emporium 40 Flea Market is located just off High School Road in Indianapolis. It was formerly a big-box retail space. Now, it’s one of the city’s top flea markets, with over 100 vendors offering antiques, collectibles, and vintage finds.
One of my favorite things about Emporium 40 is the diversity of products—it’s like hunting for treasures. They even have electronics and small appliances here.
And don’t leave this place without trying Vicky’s Taco Stand. At a glance, it looks simple and nothing special, but it has become one of my favorites whenever I shop here.
More than that, this whole place is great for all ages. I like that they’ve made it wheelchair accessible and have various areas to rest.
Pro Tip: I highly recommend bringing some cash! While many vendors accept cards, some may prefer cash transactions. |
