We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Diagnostic Capabilities: I focused on clinics that use advanced imaging and testing equipment, ensuring accurate diagnoses for both routine eye exams and more complex conditions.

Pediatric and Specialty Care: Practices with dedicated programs for children or specialized contact lenses stood out, showing a higher level of expertise and comprehensive patient support.

Accessibility and Convenience: We looked at how easy it is to schedule appointments, find parking, and use insurance. Clinics that remove these hurdles make routine care much less stressful.

Patient Experience: A welcoming atmosphere, clear pricing, and flexible hours make a big difference in building trust and supporting long-term eye health.

Taking care of your eyes is about preserving your overall quality of life, but finding the right eye doctor isn’t always easy. If you’re managing new symptoms or bringing a child in for their very first exam, it’s even more overwhelming.

If you are searching for the best optometrist in Indianapolis, you want a practice that aligns with your specific health needs and personal budget.

To help, I’ve looked into local clinics to find providers who prioritize patient comfort and medical accuracy.

Below, you will find a curated list of top-rated eye care professionals who make the diagnostic process straightforward and highly accessible.

When it comes to managing childhood vision changes, Best In Sight Eye Care really stands out. They’ve been serving the local community since 1994 and specialize in multifocal soft contact lenses that help slow the progression of myopia in children.

Their pediatric exams follow the American Optometric Association (AOA) guidelines and can begin as early as 6 months. This gives parents peace of mind that their child’s visual development is being carefully monitored.

Beyond pediatric services, the clinic excels in comprehensive disease management for conditions such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, using state-of-the-art diagnostic tools.

With multiple experienced doctors on staff, patients benefit from well-rounded perspectives and expertise. The in-house optical department also features a wide selection of designer frames to suit different lifestyle needs.

The main drawback is their limited weekend availability, as they’re closed on Saturdays and Sundays. This can be tough for busy families trying to fit appointments into a standard school or work schedule.

Pros

  • 24/7 online contact lens ordering portal
  • Modern online appointment scheduling system
  • Accepts multiple major vision insurance plans
  • Wide variety of designer frames available

Cons

  • Closed on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Routine exams exclude contact lens fittings

Pros: 1. Great customer service. Very friendly; they also went above and beyond with the issue of my insurance. 2. Nice office/waiting areas. While most optometrist offices feel similar to those in a Target, Best In Sight has a pleasant post-modern, bright, and welcoming atmosphere. 3. They use up-to-date and quality equipment. Cons: The only one I can think of would be eyeglass frame selection. They have fewer options than larger offices, but that doesn’t detract from here. As someone who has been to several different optometrist offices, this one had the most professional and friendly experience to date.

Dr. Huffman did a great job getting my vision requirements figured out, took the time to answer my questions regarding issues I had be experiencing.  Staff took the time to help me find frames that worked and got the vision point for the Progressive Vision just right.  They did a great job and made this a very smooth visit.  Extremely pleased with the glasses and experience.

Finding a facility equipped to handle highly complex ocular issues can be a challenge. The Indianapolis Eye Care Center stands out by offering advanced dry eye therapies and custom-fitted contact lenses for patients with severe eye diseases or past injuries.

Even better, you don’t need to be an Indiana University student to receive treatment here. This makes their specialized services accessible to the general public.

I accompanied my neighbor for a low-vision rehabilitation consultation, and the therapists were exceptionally patient. They guided her through specialized optical devices to make the most of her remaining sight.

The clinic also participates in the InfantSEE program. They provide free comprehensive eye assessments for children under one year old.

A notable drawback is that many of their advanced specialty treatments are available only by referral. You can’t book these specific procedures without first consulting a primary care doctor, which adds an extra step.

Pros

  • Inclusive policy for uninsured patients
  • Dedicated free surface parking lot
  • Accessible via public transit bus route
  • Extensive on-site eyewear selection

Cons

  • Specialty services require a medical referral
  • Full payment is required at the time of service

Dr. Page continues to provide exceptional medical solutions to the ever changing health of my eyes. Her insight, knowledge, and complete dedication to the patient is above reproach. She is always friendly and upbeat as she translates the complicated medical language to what the layman can understand all the while by injecting humor into the conversation. This visit Garrett, was the student who completed the workup and did so with professional and personable qualities. I believe he will make an outstanding optometrist. From check in to check out my experience this time and every time has been outstanding.

I love the Eye Care Center!  The do an excellent job with traditional optometry clinical work and bringing the latest in news, risks, and treatments to my attention.  I enjoy learning about the students working on rotation there.  They have a nice selection of prescription eye glasses frames and lens options, and they do excellent work – my glasses have never needed more than a fit adjustment.   Exams take a bit longer (they are still learning and the fully certified optometrist must check their work at the end of the exam), but it’s worth it IMHO.

3. Infinity Eye Care

Website: https://infinityeyecarein.com/

Address: 1035 N Post Rd Suite B

Contact: 317-449-2122 | [email protected]

Routine eye exams should not have to be uncomfortable, and Infinity Eye Care makes them surprisingly easy.

They use advanced diagnostic technology like Optomap retinal scanning to detect early signs of ocular disease non-invasively. This allows most patients to skip the dreaded dilation drops.

They also offer medical management for a wide spectrum of conditions and offer targeted dry eye treatments that address the root cause rather than just symptoms.

A standout feature is their Nuance Audio Glasses, which combine vision correction and hearing enhancement in one convenient frame.

For younger patients, the clinic provides effective myopia control programs using targeted daily contact lenses.

One downside is that the office operates exclusively during the traditional workweek. Families needing Saturday or Sunday availability will have to look elsewhere to accommodate their scheduling constraints.

Pros

  • Extended early morning and evening hours
  • Routine exams skip uncomfortable eye dilation
  • Secure online portal for electronic records
  • 12-month unconditional warranty on eyewear

Cons

  • Completely closed on weekends
  • Warranty repairs require a $25 co-payment

Dr. Karina Snyder is the best Optometrist that I have seen for treatment. I’m approaching age 70, so I have seen several over the years. A very professional practice producing great results.

Ive been a patient of Dr Snyder’s for many, many years!  He always takes time to explain whats going on with my eyes in a way I understand!  He listens to my concerns and is always kind!  He took the time to really explain to myself and my tween son his eyes including his eye color and eye condition!  They have a great selection of glasses and their staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable!!  Dr Snyder has state of the art equipment to disgnose!!  I Highly recommend Dr Snyder to all who are looking for an AMAZING Optometrist!!

Contact: 317-297-1788

When you have a tricky prescription, you want an eye care team that really understands the nuances of vision correction, and Forniss Optometric delivers.

Led by Dr. Kimberly Forniss, the practice provides specialized expertise in fitting complex contact lenses for patients with unique visual demands.

The clinic also focuses heavily on advanced vision correction for severe astigmatism. They use rigid scleral lenses that vault over irregularly shaped corneas.

During my own consultation for persistent dry eye issues, the staff carefully evaluated my tear production and prescribed targeted medications that provided lasting relief.

Having a full-service, in-house optical lab is also incredibly convenient. They can customize precision lenses and apply high-tech coatings directly on-site.

I also appreciate the optical department’s open-door policy. It makes browsing for new frames a breeze.

A frustrating aspect of this practice is its limited scheduling availability early in the week. The office is closed entirely on Mondays, which limits access to care right after the weekend.

Pros

  • Dedicated online store for contact lenses
  • Walk-in browsing for the optical department
  • Extensive selection of high-tech lens coatings
  • Secure online payment system available

Cons

  • Office is closed on Mondays
  • Early 5:00 PM closure on Fridays

I was very pleased with the treatment I received. I opted for the detailed eye tests and I’m glad for that decision. Dr. Forniss was very kind, warm, and explained in detail the results of each test. The staff exemplifies  Dr. Forniss. Very professional. I have a new optometrist!

We have been a client at Forniss Optometrist since my first son was 4years old,now he is 12 with a 7year old brother and we all use this Doctor’s office. Once you walk through the door, you are treated with so much love and respect. I love everyone here ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Contact: 317-929-1401 | [email protected]

InVista Optical treats eye health as a key part of overall wellness, and it really shows in their approach. Dr. Jahnke integrates nutritional guidance and specialized supplements into treatments for conditions like dry eye, combining medical care with lifestyle support.

They also use modern Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy to address stubborn eyelid issues without medications or surgery. This is a nice alternative for patients seeking less invasive options.

The boutique optical shop is another highlight. It features sustainable, handcrafted frames from exclusive brands.

Their Free-Form digital lens technology improves contrast sensitivity and significantly reduces night glare, making daily vision much easier on the eyes.

Just be mindful that there’s a $50 fee for completely missed appointments. The office also closes for an hour daily at lunch, which can make quick visits tricky.

Pros

  • Convenient online contact lens ordering form
  • Partners with a trusted local Indianapolis laboratory
  • Initial exams avoid air-puff glaucoma testing
  • Eco-friendly frame options from sustainable brands

Cons

  • Strict fees for missed or changed appointments
  • Office closes completely for a mid-day lunch hour

It is one of the best vision exams that I have ever received.  The staff was great.  The optometrist was excellent and very thorough in her explanations of all tests that were given.  I would highly encourage anyone looking get glasses or have a thorough exam this is your place!!

Samantha, the owner and the optometrist has gone above and beyond to help me with a small glass issue. I walked in with 3rd party glasses slightly being broken, and instead of doing a quick fix which they already did – she called the provider and asked for entire replacement of the spectacle frames. This is what you call true customer service – she went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied and has been so courteous enough. The entire team is truly kind. They have a loyal customer in me from now on, lovely work.
