We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Instructor Qualifications: We looked for studios that employ instructors with comprehensive certifications (500+ hours) rather than just weekend workshop certificates, ensuring safety and effective instruction.

Equipment Quality & Variety: We assessed whether the studio uses well-maintained, authentic apparatus (like Balanced Body or Gratz) and if they offer variety beyond just the Reformer, such as Chairs and Towers.

Class Atmosphere: We considered the vibe of the studio, whether it feels intimidating and exclusive or welcoming and inclusive for beginners walking in for the first time.

Scheduling & Accessibility: We checked how easy it is to book a class, the breadth of the schedule (early mornings/evenings), and if the location is convenient for the average Indy resident.

Finding a fitness routine that balances strength, flexibility, and mental clarity is tough, but Pilates offers a proven solution for this!

We’ve seen a surge in excellent local studios offering classes on this method. Classical purists will find their haven here, and those seeking modern hybrid workouts also have plenty of choices.

Check out this list to help find the studio that fits your vibe, budget, and fitness goals.

Club Pilates – Downtown Indy

Address: 530 Massachusetts Ave, Suite 160

Contact: +1 317-643-5330

Hours:

  • Mon, Wed & Fri: 6:30 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Tue & Thu: 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Sat: 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM
  • Sun: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Club Pilates Downtown Indy makes the practice accessible through a modernized, equipment-heavy approach. Their standout feature is the sheer variety of apparatuses used in a single group setting.

You use the Reformer, TRX, Springboards, and EXO-Chairs to keep the body guessing. I popped into the studio to check out their setup, and the energy was infectious.

It operates as a lively community hub where people genuinely have fun while sweating. The “Foundation” classes are particularly good for easing novices into the terminology without overwhelming them.

However, the popularity of the studio can be a double-edged sword.

Because the classes are leveled strictly (Level 1, 1.5, 2, and so on), you cannot just jump into an advanced class even if you feel ready. You often need instructor approval or a solid three-month track record to move up.

Pros

  • Instructors have 500+ hours of training
  • Wide equipment variety (TRX, Chair, etc.)
  • Clear level system for safety
  • Free 30-minute intro class available

Cons

  • Strict prerequisites for advanced levels

Customer Reviews:

Best workout for strength, stretching, and balance

I’ve attended this location for about a year. I jokingly call it slow torture, but it is genuinely the best workout for strength (especially core), stretching, and balance. I love that each instructor brings their own personality to their class. I’m also happy with the increased class selection. Thanks to everyone including the lovely front desk staff who always welcome you in with a smile.

Results are undeniable

I just completed my fifth month at club Pilates Indianapolis. Eight times a month… 40 classes… The results are undeniable. Scheduling classes is a breeze and I truly have enjoyed every instructor I’ve had.Check it out!!

Indy House of Pilates

indy-house-of-pilates

Website: https://www.indyhouseofpilates.com/

Address: 5153 Commerce Square Dr, Suite B

Contact: +1 317-750-3024

Hours: By appointment & class schedule

Indy House of Pilates distinguishes itself with a deep focus on therapeutic integration and high-level expertise. Owned by a second-generation master instructor, the studio offers a level of lineage-based knowledge that is rare to find.

Here, traditional Pilates meets specialized modalities like Neurokinetic Therapy. This makes it an incredible option for anyone dealing with chronic pain or complex movement patterns that standard gym workouts might aggravate.

The studio doesn’t try to fit you into a pre-made box. They tailor memberships to align with your specific biological and structural needs.

The downside to this high level of personalization and smaller class size is availability. It can be difficult to snag a spot in prime-time slots, and you might find yourself on a “standby” waitlist more often than you’d like if you don’t book well in advance.

Pros

  • Owned by a 2nd-gen master instructor
  • Offers therapeutic modalities (NKT and P-DTR)
  • Includes Yoga and Zumba options
  • On-site therapeutic massage available

Cons

  • Class spots are limited; frequent waitlists

Era Pilates

Website: https://erapilatesindy.com/

Address: 1043 Virginia Ave # 211

Contact: +1 317-828-3251

Hours:

  • Mon: 6:30 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Tue – Fri: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Sat & Sun: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Era Pilates serves purists seeking the authentic classical method in a stunning environment. Located in the historic Murphy building in Fountain Square, the studio feels like a step back into a more elegant era of fitness, using the full suite of classical apparatus, including Towers and the Cadillac.

Walking up the stairs and entering the sun-drenched studio, you immediately feel a shift in atmosphere. It’s quiet, focused, and intimately personal compared to the loud music of big-box gyms.

They’re also a host center for Real Pilates® Teacher Training, which guarantees that the instruction is top-tier and strictly adherent to the original system.

However, a potential hurdle for newcomers is the barrier to entry for group classes.

You generally cannot just sign up for a group equipment class without first completing an initial private session or proving prior experience, which adds an extra step and cost to getting started.

Pros

  • Authentic classical Pilates method
  • Intimate class sizes (max 4 people)
  • Full suite of classical apparatus
  • Specialized prenatal and postpartum support

Cons

  • Must take private session before group classes

Clear and easy-to-follow instructions

Era Pilates is such a beautiful studio. The natural light makes it so inviting and the whole space feels fresh and energizing. Khloe is a fantastic instructor! She has such a positive, upbeat approach while still giving clear and easy-to-follow directions. As someone getting back into fitness, I’ve never felt more comfortable walking into a new space. I actually look forward to class every time. Highly recommend!

Extremely motivating

When I first started pilates, I was nervous and I was unsure of what to expect. I started private sessions with Khloe and she is so amazing! She made me feel comfortable and was extremely motivating. I love her energy and how she makes every class fun! I 100% recommend not only this studio, but Khloe as well!!

Invoke Studio

invoke-studio

Website: https://www.invokestudio.com/

Address: 970 Fort Wayne Ave # C

Contact: +1 317-631-9642

Hours: Open 24 hours (online/booking); studio hours vary by class

Invoke Studio is perfect for those who want a bit of heat and variety in their routine. Their unique selling proposition is the infrared-heated studio, which adds a serious detox and energy element to their yoga (including hot yoga) and hybrid classes.

It’s a vibrant community that feels more like a lifestyle hub than a strict Pilates clinic. The Reformer classes here are intimate, capped at five people, so you don’t get lost in the crowd despite the studio’s large size.

I love that they have dual locations and offer hybrid learning models, so you can take classes online if you can’t make it to the studio. It’s super convenient for busy schedules.

The catch is that their pricing structure can be a bit confusing. Standard memberships often exclude Reformer classes, meaning you have to purchase those packages separately, which can get expensive if you want to do both yoga and equipment Pilates.

Pros

  • Infrared-heated studio options
  • Intimate Reformer class sizes
  • Access to two physical locations
  • Hybrid online and in-person classes

Cons

  • Reformer often excluded from standard packs

Customer Reviews:

Loving both locations

I’ve been going to Invoke for 3 years now and I’m loving both locations for all my yoga needs! I began with Brooke doing heated yoga, but now I’m an Ahna junkie for gentle flow vinyasa! Thanks for all the class choices too!

A genuine studio

Katie’s Vinyasa was a beautiful flow with unique transitions and a challenge to my practice. This was among my most favorite studio classes. Katie has a natural read to the energy of the room and was an insightful guide through the process. I appreciate a genuine studio and Katy made it apparent that this studio aligns itself with the genuine practice of yoga.

Voltage Pilates

voltage-pilates

Website: https://www.voltagepilates.com/

Address: 1053 E 54th St

Contact: +1 812-350-1009

Hours:

  • Mon – Fri: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Sat & Sun: 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Voltage Pilates is arguably the most hardcore classical studio on this list, dedicated entirely to preserving the integrity of Joseph Pilates’ original Contrology designs. Their defining feature is the Voltage Class format, which fosters incredible autonomy.

Instead of blindly following an instructor, you work independently with a customized card while a teacher guides you, allowing for a deeply personal practice. This method builds mental discipline alongside physical strength in a way that follow-the-leader classes simply can’t match.

They also use equipment built to the original specs, which feels distinctively different, often heavier and more feedback-rich than modern versions. The trade-off for this specialized attention is convenience.

The studio operates strictly by appointment, meaning you cannot just drop in or walk by to ask questions. Everything must be pre-arranged, which requires a bit more planning and commitment from the student.

Pros

  • Ultra-small class sizes (max 3)
  • Fosters autonomy via Voltage Class
  • Authentic equipment designs
  • Structured 5-week beginner series

Cons

  • No walk-ins; strictly by appointment

Customer Reviews:

I’ve been coming to this studio for about a year now and have absolutely loved the experience! My instructor Austin knows exactly how to challenge me in the best way, and Lindsey, the studio owner, is great. They know their stuff when it comes to classical Pilates, and every session leaves me feeling stronger and more energized!

I’ve taken Pilates for 8 years with various instructors and Lindsey is the best! I’m 77 and I’m stronger and more flexible than I was 15-20 years ago. Her knowledge of Pilates is immense, but she keeps learning! Lindsey is fun as well! Her studio has all the best equipment with good instructors!
