The 5 Best Storage Space Options in Indianapolis: Prices & Deals Compared!

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Security Features - We checked for facilities that offer more than just a fence and a padlock. This includes looking for 24/7 video monitoring and personalized gate codes to keep your belongings safe.

  • Accessibility and Convenience - Your schedule is busy, so we looked for spots with long gate hours or "touchless" rental options. We also checked for features like drive-up access and wide aisles for moving trucks.

  • Cleanliness and Maintenance - Nobody wants to put their couch in a dusty or damp warehouse. We prioritized locations that maintain high standards for facility hygiene and structural repair.

  • Pricing and Contract Terms - We focused on places that offer flexible month-to-month leases. We also took a close look at introductory offers versus long-term price stability.

Running out of space is frustrating, and it only gets worse when you’re juggling boxes, furniture, and seasonal gear. If you’re relocating (these local movers can help!), decluttering, or clearing out the garage, choosing the right storage unit makes the whole process smoother.

Indianapolis has plenty of options, but they aren’t all created equal. Some focus on high-tech security, while others prioritize budget-friendly rates for students.

We have looked at the local landscape to find the spots that offer the best mix of convenience and protection. Secure your sensitive heirlooms in climate-controlled units, or park your RV in a massive outdoor spot!

This list highlights the top places to stash your stuff. Let’s help you find some breathing room in your home.

How much does storage space cost in Indianapolis?

The price of a storage unit in Indy is pretty flexible, depending on what you need. If you are just looking for a small 5×10 space for some boxes, you might find deals as low as $18.

On average, most people pay somewhere between $47 and $130 a month. For a standard 10×10 unit, which is about the size of a large bedroom, expect to pay around $84.

If you have a whole house to store, a 10×20 unit usually runs closer to $131. Keep in mind that climate control or prime downtown locations will usually add a bit more to your monthly bill.

1. Store Space Self Storage

Address: 1426 W 29th St
Contact: 317-900-4585
Hours:

  • Mon-Tue 8 Am – 9 AM
  • Wed–Sun 9 AM–5:30 PM

Store Space Self Storage lives up to their tagline, “Storage That Cares.” Staff treat your items with empathy rather than viewing you as a number on a unit.

Their omnichannel touchless rental process is incredibly smooth. I actually used their online system recently and finished the whole lease in minutes while sitting in my car!

It made moving day so much less stressful. Their specialized climate control and vehicle storage also keep sensitive furniture safe from temperature spikes. However, keep an eye on your bill after a few months.

Their introductory rates are aggressive, but prices can jump once the promotion ends. But since they rely so much on tech, you might find that on-site managers aren’t always physically there when you have a question.

Pros

  • First month free promotions
  • Complete touchless rental process
  • 24/7 video surveillance
  • Specialized vehicle and RV spots

Cons

  • Price hikes after promotion
  • Inconsistent on-site staffing
  • Strict late-fee automation
  • Older sites need maintenance

Customer Reviews

Excellent customer service was provided with a smile.
Kat, the store manager, was patient, informative, and easy to talk to. She made sure i knew exactly what I’m paying for and explained the pricing and rates perfectly. Overall, i feel my needs were met and excellent customer service was provided with a smile.

2. Storage Mart

Address: 1215 E Washington St
Contact: +1 317-207-9773 / +1 833-689-4219
Hours: Mon–Sun 6 AM – 10 PM

Storage Mart focuses on an Easy Street customer experience that removes all the usual friction. New renters frequently use the $1 first-month deal to lower upfront moving costs.

What I loved most was StorageMart’s Clean standard, with bright, freshly painted hallways that feel far safer than a dark basement. The indoor loading bays are a huge plus, too, keeping you dry while you unload, even when it’s raining or snowing!

I’ve noticed their local site managers are very responsive if you ever have an issue with your gate code. Just be careful with their insurance requirements, as they often mandate a protection plan that adds an extra fee to your quote.

Plus, their gate hours are a bit more restrictive than others, so don’t plan on a midnight move.

Pros

  • Hospital-clean facility standards
  • Climate-controlled indoor loading
  • 24/7 customer service line
  • Individually alarmed units

Cons

  • Mandatory insurance fees
  • Significant rent increases
  • Strict gate hour limitations
  • Hidden administrative fees

Customer Reviews

The location is easy to enter and exit.
Kelley and Tonya were fantastic in showing me possible storage units that were available, explaining the amenities (like the indoor loading bay!) and offerings for businesses, and shepherding me thro9ugh the process of rental. The location is easy to enter and exit even though it is on a major road in/near Fountain Square. I recommend.

The facility is always clean and the lighting is great.
This storage facility is very convenient to my home and has great hours. I have found the staff incredibly helpful, Stephanie and Kelley are an absolute delight to work with. The facility is always clean and the lighting is great. I have used several storage facilities over the years and this so far has been the best one.

3. MyPlace Self Storage

Address: 830 N 6th St, Lafayette

Hours: Mon–Sat 9 AM–5:30 PM

MyPlace Self Storage provides personal service that makes you feel like a neighbor. They often take over existing urban buildings, putting storage right in the heart of residential areas.

This hyper-localized integration means you don’t have to drive to the outskirts of town just to grab a few boxes. Their smart rental features allow you to get a gate code via text instantly.

When I stopped by, the facility was immaculate, and the climate control was clearly working hard against the Indiana humidity. Consistent humidity levels protect documents and wooden furniture from warping.

The downside is that prime locations come with premium pricing. They also have dynamic rates, so during student move-out season, the remaining units can get quite expensive for new tenants.

Pros

  • Located in residential districts
  • Text-based gate code delivery
  • Immaculate unit cleanliness
  • Flexible month-to-month leases

Cons

  • Higher monthly base rates
  • Limited space for large RVs
  • Dynamic price fluctuations
  • Limited on-site office hours

Customer Reviews

This is a well maintained storage facility.
This is a well maintained storage facility. Very clean and easy to maneuver around. I initially signed an agreement online and when I arrived the unit was smaller than expected (hello support beam). The manager, Bill was very helpful in finding a unit that fit our needs. He was patient and explained everything. I am really happy with our rental and have all the confidence that you would also find the storage facility above the status quo. Highly recommend!

It’s a great facility and very affordable!
We have used this storage place for our son attending Purdue University since his Freshman year! It’s a great facility and very affordable! Bill has been amazing in always helping me book the storage unit for my specific dates. Will use them until our son graduates!!

4. Public Storage

Public Storage dominates geographically. No matter where you are in Indy, there is probably a location just around the corner.

Their biggest draw is the deep-discount entry pricing, like the classic $1 first month deal. Short-term renters and students often choose this option to keep costs low during transitions.

You can rent a tiny locker for a few boxes or secure a unit large enough for a five-bedroom household. I’ve spoken to other renters there who really appreciate the on-site moving supplies, since you can grab boxes and tape right at the counter.

They’re definitely optimized for the short term, since base rates tend to jump quickly after the first three months. If you don’t bring proof of your own insurance, their Orange Door plan becomes a mandatory add-on that increases the total cost.

Pros

  • Accessibility almost everywhere
  • Huge variety of unit sizes
  • Sustainable solar-powered sites
  • One-stop shop for boxes

Cons

  • Frequent post-promo hikes
  • Mandatory in-house insurance
  • Restricted night-time access
  • Lean on-site management

5. SecurCare Self Storage

Address: 3231 N Arlington Ave

Hours: Mon–Sun 6 AM–10 PM

SecurCare Self Storage combines corporate reliability with local neighborhood management. Being part of the NSA Storage family means they have corporate-level reliability, but the property management team still knows the local neighborhood.

The facility specializes in multi-vehicle storage. Heated garages accommodate boats, while wide outdoor spots fit large RVs comfortably in the Avon and Indy area.

Their facilities feature wide aisles, which makes maneuvering a massive moving truck much less terrifying. I’ve found their online management portal to be one of the most stable for setting up autopay.

On the negative side, they do charge a one-time administrative fee that can be annoying for very short-term renters. Also, as they merge with larger systems, some long-time customers have reported a bit of administrative friction with their paperwork.

Pros

  • Heated vehicle storage options
  • Extra-wide aisles for trucks
  • Voted best customer service
  • Securely fenced perimeters

Cons

  • Non-refundable admin fees
  • Occasional paperwork friction
  • Web-only price fluctuations
  • Limited in-person office hours
