I called today for help with my water softener, and, wow, I was blown away by the incredible customer service I got! Doug assisted me over the phone and provided me with some excellent help, and he didn’t charge me a dime. On top of that, their larger operation gives you more flexibility when it comes to pricing and payment options. For example, they offer rental programs, which are helpful if you are not ready to buy a system outright.
I also had a good experience with their 30-day money-back guarantee when I was testing out one of their filter systems. The whole return process was smooth, and they were professional the entire time.
That said, there are a couple of tradeoffs to keep in mind. Their systems are proprietary, so you will typically need Culligan technicians for future repairs, and the white-glove experience can depend on which technician is assigned to your route.

Elgin Water Care has been around since 1946, so they have seen just about everything when it comes to Indy area water. Since they are a long-time Broad Ripple staple, they also have a deep understanding of how the local water table has shifted over the years.
They offer a very traditional, mom-and-pop experience that many homeowners find refreshing in the age of corporate franchises. On top of that, they are brand agnostic, which is a huge plus because they will actually repair softeners they didn’t install.
Another thing people love is their salt delivery service. Instead of dropping bags at the door, the team will carry the heavy salt into your basement and even fill the tank for you, which is a big help for older homeowners or anyone with back issues (me!).
Of course, there is a tradeoff. They keep it pretty traditional, so you are not going to get Wi-Fi apps or fancy leak detectors, but you will get solid, reliable mechanical engineering that just works.
