- Monday – Thursday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Walking into this neighborhood favorite feels just like stepping into a busy Mexican family kitchen. The whole place is filled with the amazing smells of slow-simmered spices and good food.
La Parada is a true local gem because they skip the usual cookie-cutter approach. Instead, they serve massive and authentic platters of traditional Caldos, including a rich goat Birria and very tender beef tripe Menudo.
I actually had lunch here with my coworkers last week, and we completely finished their signature house salsa. The fresh cilantro and crisp onions on top really make a difference.
The bright murals on the walls also match the high-energy vibe of the staff.
Just keep in mind that the dining room is quite cramped, and the service can be a little slow at times. If you try to get a seat during the Friday night dinner rush, you will definitely need some patience.

I had the greatest experience!
I had the greatest experience! I have celiac disease so I called ahead of time, I spoke with Taria. She was AMAZING, she’s the reason I stopped in today made me comfortable about eating out. When we arrived she served my table of 4. She accommodated for everyone at the table we had great drinks and food. Taria mentioned we could sign up and get free queso and chips, so we did that! Overall, we had super great service. My favorite was the Elote and the Strawberry bombshell drink!

3. Bugambilias Mexican Cuisine

Address: 5763 E 86th St, Castleton
Contact: (317) 516-5978
Hours:

- Friday & Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Bugambilias Mexican Cuisine truly excels at specific regional specialties, deliberately bypassing standard fare to offer traditional steam-cooked Mixiote and historically rich Tacos Árabes marinated in bright, zesty lime juice.
They even serve a highly comforting, creamy Mexican spaghetti tossed with fresh Roma tomatoes that completely outshines your standard side of rice and beans.
If you ever need phenomenal catering for a massive backyard wedding or a corporate festival, their dedicated food truck brings these incredible, hard-to-find flavors right to your venue.
The culinary craftsmanship here easily rivals any massive upscale establishment in the city. Sadly, margarita lovers will have to settle for a cold beer since the kitchen only carries a restricted wine and malt license.
The surprisingly cozy dining room also fills up quickly, often leaving larger parties waiting on the sidewalk during prime weekend dinner hours.

Best tacos I’ve ever had
Best tacos I’ve ever had at a sit down Mexican restaurant. The Felipe and barría were favorites. Also the house Margarita was LEGIT, made fresh and not overly sweet. 10/10 recommend for tacos and margaritas!

Great experience
I ordered the carne asada and it was delicious! Great flavor, especially paired with their red hot sauce. The restaurant is cute and clearly family-run, which gives it a warm, welcoming vibe. We stopped in while craving Mexican food and were really glad we did. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the place was clean overall. The tables are a bit close together, so you can hear nearby conversations, but it didn’t take away from the great experience.

- Monday – Thursday: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Bakersfield Mass Ave delivers a spectacularly scrappy, honky-tonk atmosphere paired flawlessly with an expansive, highly curated library of premium American whiskeys and simple, authentic street fare.
Ripping into an earthy, perfectly spiced Al Pastor taco here feels incredibly satisfying, especially when washed down with a smoky glass of top-tier bourbon.
I stopped by last month for a quick evening bite and was immediately blown away by the delicate texture of their freshly pressed masa. You can easily spend hours sampling their impressive spirit collection with friends while enjoying the loud, communal vibe.
Unfortunately, your lower back might ache severely by the end of the night due to the rigid, backless seating in the barrel. Their strict first-come, first-served policy also means you will probably shiver outside for over an hour on a busy Saturday night.

It was an awesome experience!
Our nephew’s 30th Birthday celebration was held this evening @ Bakersfield in downtown Indy. It was an awesome experience! Ruth, Collette & Kalie were so attentive, gave our group unbelievable service, & made the evening truly special for our family & friends. Thank you Ruth, Collette & Kalie! I hope you made it home safely. We will be back!!

It’s always fresh, with just the right amount of lime
Every time we grab a bite here, we stick to the same tacos (the Baja shrimp are my favorite) and I always order the pineapple margarita. The staff is friendly and chatty—in a good way-but the main reason we keep coming back is the guacamole.
We’ve tried so many places, but we always end up comparing them to this one. It’s always fresh, with just the right amount of lime.

5. Macizo Restaurant

Website: http://www.macizorestaurant.com/
Address: 6335 Intech Commons Drive, Suite C/D
Contact: (463) 202-2853
Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Macizo Restaurant beautifully marries Mexican and Peruvian culinary traditions while employing incredibly labor-intensive methods, such as grinding their own in-house nixtamalized corn for the freshest, softest tamales imaginable.
The brilliant, seamless collision of South American and Central American spices makes every single signature dish on the menu pop with surprising vibrancy and depth. It perfectly caters to adventurous eaters hunting for genuine culinary innovation.
For example, their fresh, sweet Purple Horchata perfectly balances out the intense, savory punch of their highly inventive Burrito de Lomo Saltado.
Unfortunately, passionate night owls will be deeply disappointed by their unusually early closing time of eight o’clock in the evening.
Their strict reliance on artisanal, small-batch baking also means your favorite fresh bread might randomly be completely sold out before you even secure a table.

The best Mexican food in Indianapolis
I almost never write reviews but this experience was fantastic! Everything from the food to service and conversations with the owners were truly valued.
This is without a doubt the best mexican or peruvian food you will get in Indianapolis and their ingredients and dedication back that claim up. Finding a place that has good ají de amarillo is hard anywhere not in NYC/LA and for it to be so prominent on the menu combined with their homemade bread is fantastic!!
