Finding the best waffle in Indianapolis is not as easy as picking the first brunch menu you see. Some places nail that crisp outside and fluffy middle, while others win with chicken and waffles, fruit toppings, or old-school diner comfort.
I wanted spots that felt worth leaving the house for, whether I was craving a late-night plate, a downtown brunch, or a cozy weekend breakfast.
So I rounded up local picks that stand out for texture, menu range, value, and the kind of service that makes a morning meal more memorable.
How much does a waffle cost in Indianapolis?
Waffle dishes in Indianapolis usually cost about $5 to $20 per person, depending on whether you go to a no-frills diner or a more specialized brunch spot.

1. Waffle House

Website: https://locations.wafflehouse.com/
Address: 4141 S Emerson Ave
Contact: (317) 780-1717
Hours: Open 24 hours
Late-night waffle cravings hit differently when most kitchens are already closed, which is why Waffle House still earns a place on this list.
This location keeps things simple, affordable, and available around the clock, so it works just as well for a 2:00 AM stop as it does for an early breakfast.
What I appreciate here is that you can pair a golden waffle with classic sides like bacon, eggs, and those famous hash browns without overthinking the order. The diner setup also gives it that familiar, no-fuss comfort that makes a quick meal feel easy.
The main drawback is consistency from one market to another. Catering options and some menu items can vary by location, so this is the kind of place where you go for dependable basics rather than a long list of specialty dishes.

Service was exceptional from start to finish
During our recent visit to this Waffle House location, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff’s attentiveness and friendliness truly enhanced our dining experience. We savored every bite of the delicious waffle and hash browns. The waffle was perfectly golden and fluffy, while the hashbrowns were cooked to crispy perfection. We left Waffle House incredibly satisfied and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

Absolute positive experience
We loved it! Food cooked exactly the way we wanted. The cook even said to come back after I thanked him for cooking our meal. The wait staff was attentive but not overly attentive. Absolute positive experience.

2. Wild Eggs

Website: https://www.wildeggs.com/downtown-indianapolis-in/
Address: 314 N Delaware Street
Contact: (317) 744-8283
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Wild Eggs feels like the better pick when I want something more polished than a standard diner breakfast. The location leans into creative brunch dishes, but it still keeps staples like Belgian waffles on the menu for people who want something classic.
I also appreciate the dedicated gluten-free menu, the kids’ options, and the fact that you can turn breakfast into a full brunch with juice, espresso, or a morning cocktail.
That mix makes it an easy place to recommend for groups with different tastes. It’s also a good excuse to browse other restaurants in Indianapolis after you eat.
The only real downside is the schedule. Wild Eggs is very much a breakfast-and-lunch spot, so once the early afternoon cutoff hits, you’ll need to look elsewhere for dinner.

First time visiting and I WILL be back
First time visiting and I WILL be back. So much on the menu I wanted to try. Settled in a classic Belgian waffle. A little spongy than crispy, but still good. My friend had the short stack. My goodness they were huge and thick pancakes!

Jessica was absolutely amazing and Very kind. My girl is visiting from Florida. She’s never been to Indiana before and this was her first restaurant experience. Jessica knocked it out of the park. Thank you again. This will be our breakfast spot moving forward.

3. Metro Diner

Website: https://metrodiner.com/locations/indiana/clearwater-crossing/
Address: 3954 E 82nd Street
Contact: (317) 296-8262
Hours: Daily, 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Metro Diner is the kind of place I think of when I want a hearty breakfast that doesn’t disappear by noon. Their full breakfast menu runs all day, which makes a big difference if you’re craving waffles later than most brunch spots allow.
The standout here is the comfort-food angle. Chicken and waffles, large portions, kids’ meals, and catering options all make it feel flexible for families or groups. The member sign-up deals are a nice extra.
For savory breakfast fans, it also fits nicely alongside other fried chicken spots in Indianapolis.
The tradeoff is that Metro Diner doesn’t really pretend to be light. The portions are generous, and the menu leans rich. It may not be the best choice if you want a smaller or more health-focused breakfast.

4. Cafe Patachou

Website: https://www.cafepatachou.com/location/cafe-patachou-meridian-kessler/
Address: 4901 N Pennsylvania St
Contact: (317) 925-2823
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Cafe Patachou feels a little more elevated than the average breakfast stop, and that starts with the ingredients. The menu focuses on scratch-made dishes, local produce, and organic touches that make a waffle plate feel fresher than the usual diner version.
I was also glad to see vegan and gluten-free choices spread across the menu instead of tucked into one tiny corner. That makes this spot easier for mixed groups, and the catering menu adds another practical reason to keep it in mind.
The catch is the closing time. Everything here wraps up by mid-afternoon, so you need to plan ahead if you want one of their waffles. Evening visits are completely off the table.

I couldn’t have asked for a better brunch
The service, food, drinks and atmosphere was amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better brunch. We ordered a mocha and vanilla latte, Belgian waffle, everything bagel with salmon, and bacon. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was spot on. Highly recommend!

A gluten free person’s dream!
A gluten free person’s dream! Everything I had was so good (chocolate oatmeal, GF waffle with fruit, and a chai latte). The vibe was great. Service was great. And the food was reasonably priced. I wish I lived here and could keep coming back. Until next time Indy!

5. Charlie Brown’s Pancake and Steak House

Website: https://charliebrownspancake.com/
Address: 1038 N Main Street
Contact: (317) 243-2502
Hours: Daily, 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Charlie Brown’s Pancake and Steak House brings a lot of Speedway character to breakfast, so it feels especially fun if you want a meal with a local theme.
The motorsports-inspired atmosphere gives it more personality than a generic diner, and the menu sticks to hearty, old-school breakfast plates.
Another thing I appreciate is that families can order junior portions while adults dig into bigger combos with steak, pancakes, and waffles.
The scratch-cooking approach and local ingredients also help it feel more thoughtful than a basic grab-and-go breakfast stop.
The downside is that the menu is heavily built around meat and dairy. If you follow a strict plant-based diet or need broader dietary flexibility, this one may feel more limiting than the other places on this list.

Would definitely come back to enjoy a good breakfast
Came to brunch with my bestie. We had a lovely time. Food was very yummy. She ordered the Little Joe with a Chocolate chip waffle on the side. I ordered the Basic Breakfast with Fried Potatoes and strawberry and banana on my pancakes. It was not overbearingly sweet for a breakfast which I loved. And the hashbrowns were not too oily as many breakfast places normally have. Would definitely come back to enjoy a good breakfast and chat again.

The waffle my daughter ate was so delicious
Stopped in after a tour of the Speedway. Staff was friendly from the start. Our server was friendly and attentive. The waffle my daughter ate was so delicious. Love the vanilla in the batter! Their gravy is some of the best I’ve had that went on top of my meal. Will definitely stop by again if I’m in the area
