Finding the best accommodations in Indianapolis gets a lot easier when you know what kind of stay fits your trip.
Whether you’re here for a game at Lucas Oil Stadium, a convention downtown, or a longer work stay, the right hotel can save time and stress.
I looked for places that stand out for location, comfort, value, and practical perks that actually make travel smoother.
And if hotels are not quite your style, Indianapolis also has great short-term rentals. If you end up putting down roots, local movers can help with the next step.

Stepping out of the lobby and realizing you’re just a short walk from Lucas Oil Stadium is a major advantage, especially if you’re in town for a game, concert, or downtown event.
This property really stands out because of its convenient location near the convention center, making it a practical choice for business travelers, conference attendees, and families who want to stay close to the action.
I found the location especially helpful during a busy conference weekend, where being able to walk instead of relying on transportation made the stay much easier.
The complimentary Express Start breakfast adds extra value, particularly for guests starting their day early. Free high-speed Wi-Fi also helps keep work, travel plans, and entertainment on track.
However, the $25 daily self-parking fee may feel a bit high. Guests should also note that this is not a pet-friendly property.
Seemed like they actually cared
I stay at Holiday Inn Express quite often. I must say, this is the best one I have stayed at! The room (king premium) was clean, smelled clean, and was well maintained. The staff were polite, helpful, and seemed like they actually cared. The location is fantastic for sporting events. Directly next to Lucas Oil stadium, and only a few blocks from where the Pacers play! Downtown is right up the road. I highly recommend staying here!

The bed was so comfortable
The staff was so nice. The room was way better then we expected for the price. The bed was so comfortable. I wish we had stayed another night. The pool was also open late and opened early in the morning so u could go before u have to check out. The best part is that we where right across rhe street from lucas oil stadium. I will definitely pick that place again when we come back.

2. Residence Inn by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown on the Canal

Website: https://www.marriott.com/
Address: 350 W New York Street
Contact: (317) 822-0840
Hours: Check-in: 3:00 PM; Check-out: 12:00 PM
Staying at Residence Inn by Marriott means waking up to canal views in the middle of downtown, which feels like a nice reset after a packed day. The location is near the Indianapolis Canal Walk, as well as local groceries and restaurants.
If you don’t want to go out to eat, however, there’s an all-suite setup here with full kitchens that make it much easier for families or longer-stay travelers to settle in. The complimentary hot breakfast and grocery shopping service help too.
The tradeoff is that some suites feel smaller than the photos suggest. A few guests also mention that the dirty exterior windows can take a bit away from those canal-facing views.
Rooms are clean
Great front desk service, especially Emily. Very helpful. Walking distance to IU – Indy, Lucas Oil Stadium, museums and White River State Park. Canal would be awesome in the summer, we stayed in the winter. Rooms are clean. Breakfast is typical Marriott Breakfast, the breakfast worker does a great job keeping it stocked for everyone.

Courteous, friendly, and resourceful
Was there for a wedding in October and had a few crises, e.g. broken razor. The person at the front desk (Jean?) was simply wonderful! She helped me through every issue; she was courteous, friendly, and resourceful. I will definitely choose this hotel again when in Indy! Plus it is in a great location.

3. Tru by Hilton Indianapolis Downtown

Address: 601 Russell Avenue

Hours: Check-in: 3:00 PM; Check-out: 11:00 AM
Traveling on a budget doesn’t always mean settling for a dull or basic stay. Tru by Hilton does a solid job of keeping the experience upbeat and practical.
One of the highlights is the colorful, energetic lobby, which feels more social than traditional. Guests can enjoy board games, semi-private work nooks, and a 24/7 market, all in a convenient downtown location near Lucas Oil Stadium.
The rooms are also designed with modern travelers in mind, offering streaming entertainment and digital key access for added convenience. It’s a good fit for guests who want something simple, fresh, and functional without paying luxury-hotel rates.
That said, check-in may slow down during peak arrival times, and housekeeping can be somewhat inconsistent during longer stays. Overall, however, it still remains a strong option for travelers who want a lively downtown base at a more budget-friendly price.

Made the whole process quick and easy
Had a great check in experience thanks to Jun at the front desk. He was very friendly, welcoming, and made the whole process quick and easy after a long day of travel from Georgia. We arrived late in the night and he was not overly enthusiastic but just enough for a tired traveler to feel very welcome. Really appreciated the positive first impression and awesome beverage recomedation! Thanks, June!

4. Hyatt Regency Indianapolis

Address: One South Capitol Avenue

Hours: Check-in: 4:00 PM; Check-out: 12:00 PM
Staying connected to downtown without dealing with rain or winter wind is a major perk. This is where Hyatt Regency Indianapolis really shines.
I was impressed by the climate-controlled skywalk access, which makes getting to the convention center and nearby attractions much easier.
The hotel also leans into the full-service experience with a large atrium and The Eagle’s Nest, the city’s only rotating rooftop restaurant. Those extras make the stay feel more memorable, especially if you want a nicer evening out.
The main downside is cost. Breakfast is not included, and self-parking or valet fees can push the total well above what many travelers expect.
Truly kind and thoughtful people all around
What an incredible stay we had! The customer service was absolutely above and beyond. Jennifer at the front desk was so excited to hear that we were Australians road-tripping through the States and even upgraded our room. She also gave us a list of things we could do around all her favourite cities and was just genuinely a kind soul. The parking officers were also amazing — both Noah and Cameron went out of their way to help us navigate parking with our international numbers. Truly kind and thoughtful people all around

5. Studio 6 Indianapolis, IN – Southport

Website: https://www.studio6.com/
Address: 4345 Southport Crossings Way
Contact: (317) 859-8888
Hours: Check-in: 3:00 PM; Check-out: 11:00 AM
When I think about longer stays on a tighter budget, Studio 6 makes sense because it focuses on the basics that actually matter.
The in-room kitchenette is a practical plus, especially if you want to cook simple meals and keep costs down while staying near the interstate.
Complimentary parking and free Wi-Fi also help keep the total reasonable compared with many downtown options.
Still, this is a more no-frills property, so some rooms show their age with older furnishings and small signs of wear.
It’s also pet-friendly, but the weight limits and two-pet maximum mean you should check the rules before bringing animals along.
Front desk is wonderful
My stay at Studio 6 has been a great stay the ladies at the front desk is wonderful any questions or issues they handled without a problem. As far as the hotel it self it is a nice place and is very pet friendly and kid friendly … The smell in hallway is getting better from it being so many pets coming in and out the staff here works very hard at their jobs I would come back again

Rooms were clean and had great space
My boss booked 2 rooms for a stay of 6 weeks as a traveling team from TN working about 12 hrs a day. The rooms were clean and had great space for all stuff for that amount of time. No one ever had a problem in that length of time which is incredible. We had stayed at some other hotel (RRI) last time and won’t be going back there again. If I HAD to change one thing it is that i wish the pool stayed open longer hours even though it was November/December.
