5 Best Arborists in Indianapolis for Safer Trees and Less Stress

best-arborist-indianapolis
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Safety practices: I looked at how each company described its safety process and how carefully they worked around the property. Tree work can go wrong quickly, so I gave extra weight to crews that seemed serious about doing the job carefully.

Range of services: I checked whether each company could handle both routine pruning and more involved tree work. That made it easier to separate true arborist support from companies that mainly offer one type of job.

Communication: I looked for signs that estimates and scheduling were handled clearly from the start. Good communication matters because tree work often affects access and timing around the property.

Value: I compared what you seem to get for the price instead of chasing the cheapest quote. A lower rate doesn’t help much if the crew rushes the cleanup or isn’t the right fit for the work.

Tree work gets stressful fast when a cracked limb is hanging over the driveway, or an overgrown canopy starts crowding the yard. That’s why finding the best arborist in Indianapolis matters so much.

The right crew can protect your property while keeping healthy trees in better shape for the long run.

I also found that it helps to compare broader tree services if you want to see which companies lean more toward emergency removals and which ones focus on long-term care.

How much does tree care cost in Indianapolis?

Most arborist jobs in Indianapolis cost about $300 to $1,800, though simple trims cost less and large removals can cost much more.

Service TypeEstimated Cost
Initial consultation$60 – $150
Formal arborist report$150 – $450 per tree
Small tree removal$150 – $450
Medium tree removal$450 – $750
Large tree removal$750 – $3,000+
Emergency removal$1,000 – $2,500
Trimming and pruning$175 – $1,000 per tree
Stump grinding$100 – $300 per stump
Deep root fertilization$100 – $350
Insect or disease injections$50 – $250 per tree

Older trees can be stressful when you need careful work, but don’t want the crew tearing up the yard around them.

That’s where A Tree’s Worth Tree Care feels especially useful, because they put a lot of emphasis on protecting lawns and nearby planting beds while the job is happening.

I also like that they’re known for fast turnaround and fair pricing, which makes a big difference when the work is urgent but not quite an emergency.

On top of that, the owner’s safety education work gives the company a more grounded feel than a crew that just shows up and cuts.

The trade-off is the estimation process. They require an on-site visit before quoting, so it’s less convenient if you were hoping to get a quick price remotely.

Pros

  • Protects surrounding landscaping
  • Fast job completion
  • Fair pricing
  • Owner shares safety expertise

Cons

  • On-site estimate required

Did an amazing job

We had them out to take down a tree, as well as do some branch trimming on a few others in our back yard. The crew was incredibly thorough and did an amazing job. Sal also came out to check the work, and is always so nice every time I talk to him!

Kept safety in the forefront!

Joe R and his crew worker Slater were both amazing! Joe was very professional and kept safety in the forefront! That is most important. They both had great and positive attitudes all day long. They came back the next day just as kind as the day before. We appreciate all of their hard work and dedication to the big and dangerous job. THANK YOU!! T&C

2. ASAP Tree and Crane Services

Website: asapindy.com

Address: Indianapolis

Contact: (317) 755-6590 | [email protected]

Hours: Open 24/7 for emergencies

When a storm leaves a hanging limb over the roof, speed matters just as much as skill. In that kind of situation,

ASAP Tree and Crane Services makes a strong case for themselves because they operate around the clock and use crane equipment for difficult removals.

That setup feels especially helpful for tight spaces where a standard crew might struggle to work safely. I also like that they handle cleanup thoroughly instead of leaving the yard full of debris after the danger is gone.

Even so, the same heavy-equipment approach can raise the starting price. It also makes them a less practical fit if all you need is simple pruning on a small tree, so routine maintenance shoppers may want a lighter-duty option.

Pros

  • 24/7 emergency response
  • Crane access for difficult removals
  • Thorough cleanup
  • Good fit for storm damage

Cons

  • Higher starting costs
  • Not ideal for small routine jobs

Customer Reviews:

The BEST tree company

ASAP Tree and Crane Services has been the BEST tree company we have ever worked with. They are friendly, professional, collaborative, reliable, respectful, and incredibly talented. They took out a 150 year old sycamore that was dying and dropping limbs. They came out, gave a quote and got us on the schedule. They provided insurance docs and protected our neighbors driveway. It was a 70,000 lb tree that was over 7 stories high and the only damage was a nick in the fence. Now we can rest easy when storms come through. THANK YOU ASAP. 🏆🏆🏆🏆

Were incredible

Saul and his crew were incredible. They took down a 150 year old sycamore tree that was dying on our property. It was particularly tricky as the tree was over our house as well as our neighbors. They were extremely professional and are unrivaled in their abilities. I have had a lot of tree work done over the years and these guys were the most talented crew I’ve worked with and their pricing is extremely reasonable. I cannot recommend them enough!! thanks Saul!

3. Bartlett Tree Experts

Contact: (317) 879-1010 | [email protected]

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

Some properties need more than basic trimming, especially when the real issue is declining tree health or a stability concern.

That’s where Bartlett Tree Experts feels different, since they lean on ISA-certified specialists and research-backed care instead of offering a one-size-fits-all visit.

I like that they can also handle structural support work like cabling and bracing, which matters when a valuable tree may still be worth saving.

Just as important, their crews come across as organized and safety-focused during more technical jobs.

The downside is cost. Because they operate with a larger corporate structure and science-heavy resources, their quotes can run higher than those of smaller local crews, which may feel hard to justify for a simple branch cut.

Pros

  • Research-backed tree care
  • ISA-certified specialists
  • Cabling and bracing support
  • Organized safety-focused crews

Cons

  • Higher pricing

Customer Reviews:

Great to work with

Jonathan and Pablo were great to work with…I have 20 Arborvitae trees that were planted 2 months ago and looked like they were not doing well. Jonathan determined the trees were planted too deep and suggested a root collar excavation which Pablo did last week. They also fertilized all my palm trees. I intend to have them maintain all my trees going forward. I highly recommend Bartlett….

Good things about Bartlett

I can not say enough good things about Bartlett. From start to finish, they were far superior to other companies we had out for estimates. Tyler was our arborist and he was extremely knowledgeable and professional. We live in a fairly wooded lot and I was hoping to find someone we could trust with our tree concerns and we did with Bartlett and Tyler! They removed 2 trees and 3 overgrown bushes at very affordable rate and Tyler also gave us time estimate on our other trees. So happy with their service and have been recommending them to everyone!

4. Nova Tree Care

Website: novatreecare.io

Address: Indianapolis

Contact: (317) 417-9277 | [email protected]

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-6:00 PM; Sat emergencies

If you want a crew that communicates clearly and leaves the property looking neat, that alone can narrow the field pretty fast. Nova Tree Care stands out on that front because they respond quickly, show up on time, and finish jobs without leaving a mess behind.

That kind of follow-through matters when overgrown trees are already making the yard feel stressful. I also like that they seem well-suited for routine canopy work, especially for homeowners who want steady service without a lot of back-and-forth.

The catch is the schedule. They’re closed on Sundays, and Saturday work is mostly reserved for emergencies, so it may be tough to book ordinary weekend service if your weekdays are packed.

Pros

  • Clear communication
  • Neat cleanup
  • Good routine canopy work
  • Quick quote responses

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Saturdays reserved for emergencies

Customer Reviews:

Great job and were well priced

We had Nova take down a huge tree in our backyard. They did a great job and were well priced. I really appreciated how they understood that for me it was not just a safety decision to take the tree down but also an emotional one (we had so many memories under that tree). Brad and his team were great. We also had them prune a smaller tree, and that went very smoothly too. I would highly recommend.

Did an amazing job

I had a great experience with Nova Tree Care. Brad and his team are certified arborists and know exactly what they are doing. I had a large silver maple in my back yard that needed tree trimming and they did an amazing job. Highly recommend!

5. Black Cherry Tree Service

black-cherry-tree-service

Website: blackcherrytreeservice.com

Address: Indianapolis

Contact: (317) 602-9406

Hours: Open 24/7 for emergencies

Budget matters, but so does having a crew that can move fast when a damaged tree can’t wait.

Black Cherry Tree Service feels like a practical option for that balance because they bring long experience, and their pricing feels more approachable than some larger operators.

I like that they don’t stop at the main cut. They handle cleanup after the main job, and they also offer stump grinding that can save you extra hassle once the work is done.

The main drawback is their availability for routine jobs. Since they’re a popular lower-cost option, non-emergency scheduling can take longer. You may have to wait if you just want regular trimming instead of urgent removal.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • 24/7 emergency response
  • Approachable pricing
  • Strong cleanup and stump work

Cons

  • High demand slows non-emergency bookings

Customer Reviews:

Did an excellent job

I am so pleased with Black Cherry! They did an excellent job. I had 4 very large trees taken down, two hung over my house. The crew was great about protecting my other plants and structures and nothing was damaged. It was impressive to watch them climb and cut. They were also really fast! Right on time at 9 am and finished by 2 pm. And their rate was probably the cheapest around. I didn’t even bother getting other quotes, I doubt I would’ve found a better deal. I will be recommending them to everyone!

· Bethany Deaton | Google Review

Did an amazing job for us

Black Cherry Tree Service did an amazing job for us! They recently removed about 12 trees from our property, ground the stumps right away, and left everything cleaner than I could have ever imagined.

The crew was professional, efficient, and clearly take pride in their work. It’s rare to find a company that delivers this level of service from start to finish. Highly recommend Black Cherry Tree Service if you’re looking for true professionals!
