We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Talent Caliber: I looked at the regular lineup of performers at each venue. Spotlighting nationally touring comedians alongside rising local stars ensures a fantastic show for attendees.

Atmosphere and Seating: A good venue needs the right layout to foster a strong performer-audience connection. I evaluated whether the seating arrangements created an immersive and comfortable viewing environment.

Food and Beverage Options: A complete night out often requires good snacks and drinks. I checked the menu variety and accessibility of concessions at every location.

Value and Audience Fit: Different shows cater to different groups, from adults-only crowds to family outings. I assessed ticket pricing and overall entertainment value to guarantee options for every budget.

Nights out in Indianapolis can take many forms. A great dinner at one of the city’s top restaurants or dancing at a lively nightclub can make for a memorable evening.

Still, nothing delivers pure, contagious energy quite like a night spent at a comedy club. The sound of a packed room bursting into laughter creates an atmosphere that few other venues can match.

Indianapolis has a vibrant entertainment scene. Its comedy clubs stand out as some of the most entertaining places to gather with friends, plan a date night, or shake off the stress of a long week.

To help you make the most of your next night out, here is a curated list of the best comedy clubs in Indianapolis, where the laughs keep coming.

Address: 10 W. Georgia St

Contact: 317 349-4800

Hours: Tuesday – Sunday: 6 PM–12 AM

Catching a show at Helium Comedy Club offers an intimate yet high-quality comedy experience. The venue regularly brings in well-known touring talent, all within a cozy theater setting.

I visited recently and really enjoyed how the cabaret-style seating made the entire room feel connected to the performance.

You can easily turn your visit into a full night out, thanks to their menu of appetizers and craft cocktails.

Plus, the shows are well structured. They typically start with an opener before transitioning to a headliner, which keeps the energy consistent throughout.

They also host open mics and roast battles, adding variety to their lineup.

While the downtown location is very convenient, seating can feel a bit tight during sold-out shows. Food and drinks also tend to be on the pricier side, especially with a required menu minimum.

Pros

  • Features nationally touring comedians
  • Intimate cabaret-style seating
  • Full food and drink menu available
  • Convenient downtown location

Cons

  • Seating can feel tightly packed
  • Food and drinks are on the pricier side
  • Service speed varies during busy nights

Spacious but still very intimate

Came over the summer to watch one of my fav YouTubers comedy show. I love that the area is spacious but still very intimate. They do have a 2 item minimum, it doesn’t have to be drinks. Most comedy clubs make you order atleast 2 drinks and I’m not a drinker. I had the Ceasar salad which was amazing, I definitely recommend trying. Can’t wait to visit again.

The club is always clean

I’m s BIG fan of COMEDY, the Artistry of The Craft is amazing, and this place brings great artists. Absolutely top notch. The club is always clean the wait staff is always professional and the prices is aren’t too bad either. It was great getting to see an old friend from the neighborhood.  Mike Epps keep them laughing and always represent Indy well.

Hours: Monday – Saturday: 6:30–10 PM

Stepping into the Mind Tripping Show delivers an interactive and immersive experience that feels truly different from anything else in the city.

Performed by a dynamic husband-and-wife duo, the show blends psychological illusions with clever humor to create a captivating evening.

Audience participation also plays a big role. That’s why each performance feels fresh and slightly different every time.

As the longest-running live show in Indianapolis, it stands out as a great option for date nights or group outings. The intimate theater setting also helps draw you into the experience and creates a strong connection with the performers.

You can expect plenty of laughs along with moments that are genuinely surprising.

Keep in mind that this is not a traditional stand-up routine. If you are specifically looking for a standard mic-and-stage setup, this unique hybrid format might not completely satisfy that craving.

Pros

  • Highly interactive audience participation
  • Unique combination of illusion and humor
  • Engaging husband-and-wife performers
  • Perfect for date nights and groups

Cons

  • Not a standard stand-up comedy format
  • Smaller venue with limited capacity

It’s all fun.

What a great magic/comedy show.  We did not know what to expect.  A little nervous as the room was smaller, but filled with about 50 attendees. We are all were right in the mix.  Many of us helped with the tricks. It’s all fun.  Husband and wife team that play off each other. Def worth the money. Show was about 80 minutes long. No opening acts. They get right to it.

Great comedians

Mobile Network One comedy event at The Wit Theater

May catch some great comedians and shows don’t wanna miss out. Did not take too many pictures was so entertained show was a sell out.

Address: 3808 Shelby St, Suite 1

Contact: 317 951-8499

Hours:

  • Monday – Wednesday: 9 AM – 5 PM & 6 PM – 7 PM
  • Thursday – Friday: 7:30 PM – 9 PM & 10 PM – 11 PM
  • Saturday: 7:30 PM – 9 PM & 10 PM – 11:30 PM

The Wit Theater is a fun spot to catch live improv, especially with its ComedySportz show. Two teams go head-to-head in quick, funny games, and the crowd gets to help decide who wins.

I went with a friend recently, and we were laughing the whole time because you never know what is going to happen next.

They offer all-ages shows, making it a great choice for families, as well as late-night performances for adults. Besides improv, they also host stand-up nights and even run improv workshops for corporate teams.

You can also grab pizza and beer while you watch, which adds to the experience.

Just keep in mind that the focus here is really on improv. The food and drink options are pretty simple, so it might not be the best pick if you are looking for a full bar or a more upscale night out.

Pros

  • Fun and competitive improv matches
  • Family-friendly showtimes available
  • Long-standing local comedy institution
  • Offers training and corporate programs

Cons

  • Limited full-service dining options
  • Narrower focus compared to large nightclubs

An evening of laughs

The Wit, home of Comedy Sportz, is a great venue for a family comedy night. Comedy Sportz High School League might be competing with “the pros” if you’re lucky.

Get some snacks and drinks and go all in and get voting implements for an evening of laughs. Seriously though.

The regulars are welcoming, and the shows are great

White Rabbit has one of the best arts communities in Indianapolis – where else can you experience comedy, burlesque, modern dance, poetry slams, live music, craft markets, and bingo (sometimes in the same show)? The regulars are welcoming, the shows are great, and the the bar more reasonably priced than any venue bar I’ve ever seen.

4. White Rabbit Cabaret

Website: https://www.whiterabbitcabaret.com/

Address: 1116 Prospect St

Contact: 317 686-9550

Hours: Typically 7 PM – 11 PM, depending on the show

A visit to Fountain Square often leads to White Rabbit Cabaret, a venue known for its diverse and constantly evolving lineup of live entertainment. The space has a quirky, arthouse vibe with shows from stand-up comedy to burlesque.

They also host unique in-house productions that blend performance art with interactive humor in a creative way.

Besides, guests appreciate the affordable cover charges and reasonably priced drinks from the full bar. The flexible layout adds to the relaxed atmosphere, whether you choose a reserved table or go with general admission.

Regulars can also take advantage of the RabbitVision membership, which offers livestream access and ticket discounts.

That said, the venue can get crowded quickly due to its popularity. Seating is limited, so arriving late often means standing for the show, which may not be ideal for everyone.

Pros

  • Diverse lineup of multi-genre acts
  • Quirky and eclectic local atmosphere
  • Affordable cover charges and drinks
  • Full bar available during performances

Cons

  • Seating is limited for popular events
  • Late arrivals may have to stand

Owners were wonderful

Nice bar, not sure where the good bartender went after my first drink. She must’ve been busy with other customers. Owners were wonderful to allow someone to host an “Comedy showcase, fundraiser,” not sure who was benefiting more the Hostess without the mostest or that man who won 2 gift baskets back to back! Lol minorities stick together!!!… yah!

Best venue in Indy

Best venue in Indy, hands down. Comedy, Dance, Drag, Burlesque, Variety Shows, etc are all top notch. I go to a few shows each month and have for years. Go check it out!

5. The Comedy Attic

Website: https://www.comedyattic.com/events

Address: 123 S Walnut St, Bloomington

Contact: Available via website

Hours: Typically 7 PM – 9:17 PM, depending on the show

A short drive outside the city brings you to The Comedy Attic, a venue known for hosting a strong mix of professional headliners and local talent.

The intimate setting makes every seat feel close to the stage, which helps create a natural connection between the performers and the audience.

You can reserve a table for their structured weekend shows or stop by on Thursdays to catch their weekly open mic featuring up-and-coming comedians.

The experience is also complemented by a full bar and a solid selection of appetizers and sandwiches. Their two-item minimum also includes non-alcoholic options, making it accessible for all guests.

Since the venue is intentionally small, seating can feel a bit tight, especially during busy weekend shows. Guests who prefer more space may find it slightly uncomfortable when the room is full.

Pros

  • Mix of touring headliners and locals
  • Highly intimate performer connection
  • Accessible two-item minimum policy
  • Full food and beverage menu available

Cons

  • Venue space feels small and constrained
  • Seating can be tight during sold-out shows

The food that I had was good

I saw Sarah Sherman at the comedy Attic and it was incredible. I’ve never seen someone so charismatic in person. The venue is great. It’s very intimate, small environment and you feel like you are right in the middle of the show. The food that I had was good, my sight line was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening to see a comedy show. It was worth driving hours too c and I’m sure that I’m going to go back.

An equally safe space for professionals

I love the comedy attic! The food is so good, especially the grilled cheese. There are so many kind people who work and perform there, and it is an equally safe space for professional and amateur comics! I think this is a great place for IU Bloomington students to have a night out on the town even if they can’t attend the bars yet. What a great asset to our community!
