1. Modita

Website: https://www.modita.com/
Address: 850 Massachusetts Avenue, Suite 110, Indianapolis, IN 46204
Contact: 317-316-0470
Hours: Mon – Thurs | 5pm – 10pm, Fri – Sat | 4pm – 11pm, Sunday | 4pm – 9pm
Stepping into the vibrant Bottleworks District usually means you are in for a treat, and Modita serves up Asian-inspired fusion with a distinctly modern twist.
They combine diverse regional flavors with upscale ingredients, turning traditional dim sum into a contemporary culinary adventure.
We actually visited this place multiple times to try their dumplings. The pork pho soup dumplings with coconut nuoc cham were especially memorable. Small touches like Thai basil oil and black garlic help turn simple appetizers into more layered, complex bites.
The menu also makes it easy to share, with a wide range of small plates from vegan kimchi mandu to robata grill items.
However, the experience is not flawless for everyone. During busy weekend rushes, the floor staff can get overwhelmed, leading to noticeably slow service that dampens the lively dining atmosphere.
Staff was very friendly
so delicious!! we got the pho soup dumplings and they were a 10/10. the shrimp drunken noodles were also delicious. staff was very friendly and i really enjoyed the vibes in the restaurant overall. definitely recommend

2. Wisanggeni Pawon

Website: https://www.wpawon.com/gallery
Address: 2450 E 71st St #200, Indianapolis, IN 46220
Contact: 317-756-9477
Hours: Tue – Thu | 11am–9pm, Fri – Sat | 12pm–10pm, Sun | 12pm–9pm
Uncovering rare culinary finds is always a thrill, and Wisanggeni Pawon stands out for offering authentic dishes you don’t often see in the city.
The owners lean heavily on home-style cooking traditions, grinding their spices in-house to build rich, deeply comforting flavors.
One standout is the batagor. It’s an Indonesian-style fried dumpling with chicken and shrimp, served in a bold peanut sauce that makes it a refreshing change from typical pan-Asian appetizers.
The menu also reflects a mix of regional influences, so you can move from street-food-style snacks to heartier dishes like rendang in a single meal.
Overall, it feels warm and welcoming, almost like eating in a neighborhood kitchen rather than a restaurant.
That said, planning ahead is important because seating is quite limited.
There are also occasional issues with the online ordering system, where orders can still go through even when the kitchen is closed, which has led to some pickup confusion for customers.
The atmosphere was comfortable
Try this place!
This is in the location of the former Sakura Mart.
WP is a wonderful family-owned Indonesian restaurant with some Hibachi and Japanese dishes.
The food was wonderful, the service attentive and kind, and the atmosphere was comfortable.
We had the chicken satay, the dumpling appetizer and the spicy chicken noodle soup.
all great!!

The food was very delicious
I’m always on a mission to visit Indonesian restaurants in the United States. This was our first time and will definitely not be the last time. The owner is very nice, the food was very delicious. We ordered bebek madura (the duck), gado-gado, tempe mendoan, tahu isi, es doger and es cendol. And of course we had to order batagor, martabak telor and mie ayam to go because there’s no Indonesian restaurant in Louisville. I wish this was closer so I could come here more often. And I wish them success!

Hours: Tue | 12pm-9pm, Wed | 12pm-5pm, Thu | 12pm-9pm, Fri | 12pm-7pm
Finding something that works for a large group can be tough, but Sakura Spice makes it easier by offering a wide mix of Asian dishes in one place. They cover everything from sushi rolls to pho, giving groups plenty of flexibility when ordering.
The appetizer options are especially versatile, with dumplings available steamed, fried, or in soup form. This makes it easy to mix and match small plates at the start of the meal.
Prices are generally approachable, so it’s possible to build a fairly large spread without spending too much. The focus on fresh ingredients also helps keep the flavors consistent.
While the variety is impressive, the portion sizes on certain main entrees often feel surprisingly small for the price tag.
Additionally, the service quality tends to dip occasionally, leaving some tables waiting longer than expected for drink refills.
Family-owned and very accommodating.
If you are in or near Indianapolis, IN looking for some authentic, made to order Asian cuisine and sushi then this is a must stop. The ambiance is very warm and friendly with plenty of space for large parties. There is a sushi bar as well. Very calm and relaxing music. Family owned and very accommodating. They have a vast amount of items so something for everyone. I had the pepper steak and crab Rangoon. Very delicious and filling with large portions.

4. Ramen Ray

Address: 5628 E 71st St Indianapolis, IN 46220
Contact: 317-288-7120
Hours: Mon, Wed-Sat | 11:30am–8pm, Sun | 11:30am–3pm
Slurping a bowl of rich, slow-simmered broth is hard to beat. Ramen Ray focuses on doing exactly that with a more streamlined menu built around traditional ramen flavors and a few well-made sides.
On a recent lunch visit, the spicy miso ramen paired well with their pork gyoza, which worked nicely as a simple, savory starter.
They also make their dumplings in-house, including chicken, pork, and vegetable options, so everything feels fresh and made to order.
For plant-based diners, they offer solid vegan ramen choices as well.
That said, consistency can be an issue. Some diners have received gyoza that are slightly overcooked or even a bit burnt.
Service can also feel abrupt at times, especially when the restaurant is busy, and order mix-ups happen.
Still, it’s still a dependable spot if you’re looking for straightforward ramen with a focus on core flavors rather than an overwhelming menu.
The flavors are incredible
This is the best ramen I have found in indy. It’s the second best ramen I have had. Best being in San Francisco. But I am so grateful for thus spot close to home. The flavors are incredible as is the service. The dining area could use some updates .. but the food is on point. I had the black garlic. And it was so good. Full of flavor all the way. The dumplings were fresh and incredible.. come eat here. Make thus place stay in business.. its a gem for the city.

Enough crunch on the dumplings and the meat was juicy
My gyoza and tonkatsu were delicious! Just enough crunch on the dumplings and the meat was juicy! Noodle broth was hearty and not overly salty like I typically expect from meaty stock. Place was packed and staff did a great job keeping up with the crowd. My group all enjoyed their meals as well.

If you’re looking for bold, aromatic Thai flavors, Thai Bliss might be right up your alley. They focus on fresh, made-to-order dishes where you can adjust the heat level to your preference.
This spot is especially known for its customizable spice profiles and comforting portions that lean into traditional Thai cooking.
One standout is their steamed dumplings. It goes beyond the usual single-protein filling by combining pork, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables into a single bite. It’s a small but distinctive twist that makes their appetizers feel more layered.
Ordering directly through their website also comes with a rewards program, which adds a bit of value if you visit regularly.
That said, spice consistency can be unpredictable. A “Thai hot” order might come out intensely fiery one day and noticeably milder the next, depending on the kitchen.
Even so, it remains a solid, comforting choice if you’re after hearty portions and bold flavors with room for customization.
Great variety of things to choose
Thai Bliss is an awesome place to get a fresh lunch or dinner that is artful and delicious and full of wonderful spices. So happy to have this Restaurant nearby.
