We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Specialized Treatment Focus: We looked for clinics that provide highly targeted care, whether it’s preventative screenings, complex disease management, or innovative diagnostic techniques. Finding a specialist who understands your specific gastrointestinal issue is crucial for long-term healing.

Patient Accessibility and Convenience: Navigating the healthcare system shouldn't be a nightmare. We prioritized facilities offering virtual telehealth visits, secure patient portals, and flexible scheduling to accommodate busy lifestyles.

Financial Transparency: Medical bills can cause immense stress, so we evaluated how clearly these practices communicate their pricing. Clinics that offer upfront cost estimates, good faith disclosures, and insurance billing assistance ranked higher on our list.

Facility Capabilities: A practice’s infrastructure significantly impacts the patient experience and treatment timeline. We favored providers that boast dedicated outpatient centers, state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, and in-house administrative support.

With them, dealing with sudden stomach issues wouldn’t require you to immediately clear your entire work calendar just to get a doctor’s opinion.

Having a close friend who recently used their patient portal, I saw firsthand how quickly they could access their medical records and securely message the clinic staff without playing phone tag.

However, you need to be very mindful of their billing policies, as you’ll be held financially responsible for the full balance if your insurance carrier delays payment beyond 45 days.

Make sure you don’t miss an appointment either, because their strict 48-hour cancellation policy carries a hefty fine.

Pros

  • Direct insurance courtesy billing
  • Convenient online payment portal
  • Treats adult and pediatric patients
  • Highly accessible telehealth platform

Cons

  • 45-day unpaid claim liability
  • Strict late cancellation fines

If your ever in need of a gastroenterologist look up indy gastroenterologist . I was in serious pain and Dr. Morelli took the time to talk with me and done specific test and found what was wrong. Now im on the mend. Thank you doctor and your whole team. Thank you all.

Dr. Drake is an excellent GI doctor. He takes his time to get to know his patients, to understand their entire healthcare history, and to carefully explain his plan for his patients’ care. He has a calming presence, and his knowledge and experience are top-notch.

Preventative care is often pushed to the bottom of our to-do lists, but finding a dedicated outpatient endoscopic facility makes prioritizing colorectal cancer screenings much easier.

Northside Gastroenterology operates exactly this kind of specialized environment. They provide comprehensive treatments from board-certified doctors who genuinely prioritize compassionate, unhurried medicine.

They’re also a proud partner of the Stop Colon Cancer Now initiative, which speaks volumes about their dedication to community health awareness.

And just like researching a reputable clinic for a cosmetic procedure like a lip filler, you want a medical practice that prioritizes clear communication and patient comfort, which you can expect here.

While their administrative team is incredibly helpful with filing medical claims and providing a secure online portal, their payment requirements are quite rigid.

In particular, you’re strictly required to pay all insurance co-payments in full at the exact time services are rendered, with no delayed billing options available.

Pros

  • Flexible virtual telemedicine availability
  • Direct insurance filing assistance
  • Secure and convenient patient portal
  • Accessible pre-visit patient forms

Cons

  • Co-pays due immediately at visit
  • Uninsured require upfront full payment

Dr. Baluyut is the most knowledgeable and caring GI doctor I have ever had. I always leave with a better understanding of my condition. The five star rating I’m giving now doesn’t go high enough!

I just had my first appointment at Northside with PA Samantha V on Monday. I’m a very nervous patient. She did a really great job at being calm, telling me things to calm me down, she listened well, I just did the testing she prescribed and look forward to figuring out what’s going on with my digestive health with her. The waiting room is very clean, everything seemed to run very on time. Overall, as much as it’s not fun having to go to GI, the way it’s handled here at Northside is comforting, friendly, and informative.

Address: 8051 South Emerson Avenue, Suite 200

Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:45AM-5:00PM

Stepping into a hospital setting for a digestive procedure can trigger anxiety, but visiting a dedicated, focused facility like Indiana Gastroenterology and Hepatology changes the entire experience.

For starters, they’re situated at St. Francis, operating with an uncompromising commitment to quality care and decades of historic specialization dating back to 1975. They’re also equipped for advanced diagnostics.

When I had to schedule a routine screening here last year, I deeply appreciated their open communication policy and the seamless integration of their secure medical portal for my health history.

The founding physicians also run a nonprofit research foundation, constantly seeking innovative methods to improve patient lives.

You must be certain of your schedule before booking, however, because their cancellation policy is notoriously rigid. Patients face a steep $150 fine if they fail to provide a lengthy 5-7 business day advance notice prior to canceling a procedure.

Pros

  • Active waitlist for faster scheduling
  • Open clinical communication policy
  • Advanced off-site telehealth options
  • Secure digital health tracking portal

Cons

  • 5-7 day procedure cancellation notice
  • $150 cancellation fine for procedures

Dr. Drake really takes time with his patients. During my appointment he listened to what I had to say and answered all of my questions. He was in no hurry and took the time to put me at ease. I feel very fortunate to have him as my gastroenterologist. I know I am going to receive the best of care.

My gastroenterologist retired so this was the first time I met Dr. Crane. He had a great bedside manner and I felt very comfortable with him. I will keep going to him for any future needs

4. IU Health Gastroenterology & Hepatology – Downtown Indianapolis

Contact: 317-944-0980 | 1-888-484-3258

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

Treating digestive issues successfully requires looking beyond just the immediate symptoms to understand the bigger picture of your overall lifestyle.

Adopting a whole-person approach, the medical team at IU Health Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Downtown Indianapolis stands out for its tailored, personalized care.

With their focus, they offer custom-designed interventions for your unique health profile. The facility also offers incredibly modern conveniences, like consolidating all your sensitive health data and billing into a single mobile application.

They even actively work to smooth out administrative hurdles, which is a major reason why this downtown location maintains exceptionally high patient satisfaction scores.

Much like coordinating specialized care for an intensive acne scar treatment, managing complex GI issues here requires navigating some bureaucratic red tape.

For instance, completing telehealth consent for a minor is frustratingly difficult because the clinic strictly requires both the guardian and child to be physically present during a phone call.

Pros

  • Syncs with third-party fitness apps
  • Real-time procedure cost estimates
  • Consolidated mobile healthcare application
  • Aggressive poverty-level financial assistance

Cons

  • Standardized estimates for uninsured patients
  • Strict in-person minor telehealth consent

While I am satisfied with being allowed to engage with everyone at IU at a higher technical detail level in advocating my medical care,  I am sure someone who would prefer to leave the details to the pros would feel a solid confidence in the care that they would receive at IU. I look forward IU hosting my upcoming Z-POEM surgery (new technique not offered at most facilities including those at the big V in Nashville) and future regularly scheduled GI procedures to monitor my Cirrhosis diagnosis.

I had a liver transplant. From start to finish, I was surrounded by caring, extremely competent individuals who served me well. From the surgeon, Dr. Kubal, to the nursing staff, PAs, etc. it was a phenomenally successful experience. I’m feeling great.

5. Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent – Indianapolis Gastroenterology

Address: 8333 Naab Rd, Suite 230

Contact: 317-415-6580

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM

Catching a digestive condition in its infancy can drastically minimize long-term complications and completely alter your healing trajectory.

By aggressively targeting early intervention and leveraging minimally invasive diagnostics, Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent reduces patient discomfort while providing a comprehensive spectrum of upper and lower GI treatments.

You’re always in capable hands here, as the facility exclusively features board-certified doctors alongside nurses with highly specialized training in gastroenterological care.

The hospital network also does an excellent job shielding patients from surprise medical bills, even offering total poverty forgiveness programs for those in severe financial need.

Keep in mind that standard flat-fee copayments are required and must be paid out-of-pocket during your visit.

Furthermore, these specific copayment liabilities remain an active, strict financial obligation even if you’ve already successfully met your insurance plan’s out-of-pocket maximums for the year.

Pros

  • Upfront good-faith financial estimates
  • Strict surprise billing protection
  • Complete charity care write-off eligibility
  • Accessible uninsured online estimation tool

Cons

  • Copayments exclude annual deductible progress
  • Uncapped copayment liabilities for visits

I have a chronic pancreatic disease, and Dr Aburajab, is one of the most knowledgeable GI doctors, I’ve ever met. I trust him implicitly. Edit: As the last few years have passed by, I’ve been more and more impressed by Dr. Aburajab. I’ve had chronic pancreatitis for 30 years, but he has treated me for other GI issues, as well. Trust is the most important part of the doctor/patient relationship. Also, he is very kind and compassionate.

Dr Aburajab truly gave me hope again! I have suffered with pancreatitis for several years and have never had a doctor take so much time to look into my case such as he did. He is a wonderful doctor and his staff, especially Shannon (I believe his assistant) is truly wonderful
