1. Kabab Grill

Address: 4825 EAST 96TH STREET INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240
Contact: (317) 669-2012
Hours: Mon – Fri: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM, Sat & Sun: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Stepping into Kabab Grill hits you instantly with the intoxicating aroma of authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.
They absolutely nail their core shawarma offerings. They serve up heaping plates of perfectly spiced chicken and beef.
We recently ordered their chicken shawarma plate, and the succulent, juicy meat paired with their punchy garlic sauce was genuinely unforgettable.
The portions here massive too, making it a fantastic spot to feed a ravenous family.
Beyond the wraps, their menu is packed with falafel and mixed grill platters that cater to practically every craving.
That said, we found a few of the side portions slightly skimpy compared to the mountain of meat.
Flavorful kebabs and shawarma, generous portions
Kabab Grill is widely regarded as one of the best Mediterranean casual dining spots in the Indianapolis area with flavorful kebabs and shawarma, generous portions, and friendly service. It’s highly recommended if you’re looking for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in a relaxed setting.

Every dish was even better than we expected
We had a wonderful experience here! We ordered the hummus, cheese samosa, chicken shawarma sandwich, and tabbouleh. Everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were so fresh, and every dish was even better than we expected. The service was also excellent. Sabrine took great care of us and made the meal even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be coming back!

2. Mr. Shawarma

Website: https://www.mrshawarma.org/
Address: 7035 E 96th St Indianapolis, IN 46250
Contact: (317) 537-2032
Hours: Tuesday – Sunday: 11:00 am – 10:30 pm
Mr. Shawarma takes a very menu-flexible approach to shawarma, and it shows right away in how many ways you can build a single order.
Instead of sticking to a standard wrap format, the shop lets you switch between pita wraps, Arabic-style chopped plates with fries and pickles.
The sheer variety of builds guarantees that office workers grabbing a fast lunch will never get bored.
What makes this spot special is the dedication to fresh, made-to-order ingredients that pop with vibrant colors and tangy textures. The sumac onions and creamy tahini drizzle elevate the savory proteins to a whole new level of deliciousness.
That said, purists might find some of their preparations a little unconventional, especially when fries are rolled right into the wrap.
The pricing can also feel a tad high for the portion sizes. Adding extra sauces will also quickly rack up additional charges on your bill.
The place has a great vibe overall
This is hands-down the best shawarma around! Everything is always so fresh, and I love that the quality has stayed consistent. Whether it’s dine-in or carry out, they put effort into providing a quality meal. The staff is so helpful and welcoming, and the place has a great vibe overall.

The portions are very good!
Went here celebrating my husband’s birthday and it was our first experience trying this food.
They have plenty of different drinks to try from their country with interesting flavors.
I tried the pita shawarma. He tried the beef wrap. He loved it and me as well. Meet was so tender and flavorful. The portions are very good!
I also tried the falafel for the 1st time and it was great!!! I tried all the sauces they give us.
Great spot! Don’t Miss it!

3. Batman Grill

Website: https://batmangrillindy.com/
Address: 1435 W 86th St, Indianapolis, IN 46260, US
Contact: +13172001137
Hours: Monday & Wed – Fri 11 AM–9 PM, Saturday 11 AM–9:30 PM, Sunday 11 AM–8 PM
Batman Grill leans heavily into Syrian-style shawarma and mixed grill offerings, and the menu makes that focus clear from the start.
They feature a massive shawarma presence across their menu. They offer everything from tightly rolled wraps to beautiful, steaming platters of marinated meats.
We grabbed some beef wraps from them last week, and the sharp bite of the pickles mixed with the savory garlic sauce was incredibly crave-worthy.
The cozy atmosphere inside makes it an ideal spot to sit down and inhale a large mixed grill plate.
Plus, their competitive pricing means you can feast on Middle Eastern spices without emptying your wallet.
Unfortunately, the overall food quality can occasionally miss the mark, leaving some dishes feeling slightly underwhelming. If you happen to catch them on an off day, the meat texture might not quite justify the menu prices.
Shawarma was delicious
We absolutely loved the food and the friendly gesture of their stuffs. Fries were crispy and well-seasoned, Shawarma was delicious and their garlic sauce was great!
Though this place is inside Aim mart grocery store, it has separate seating arrangement which seems clean and cozy. Highly recommended!

4. Sahara Restaurant

Website: https://www.sahararestaurantin.com/
Address: 832 Broad Ripple Ave Indianapolis, IN 46220
Contact: (317) 205-9300
Hours: Monday – Sunday 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Sahara Restaurant builds its identity around approachable Middle Eastern comfort food, with shawarma clearly taking center stage across both wraps and plated meals.
Their strong shawarma offerings come in multiple varieties, ensuring your cravings are easily met, whether you want a classic sandwich or a hearty plate loaded with hummus.
What stands out most is the seasoning profile. The meats are typically marinated in advance, which gives them a noticeable depth rather than a surface-level flavor.
The halal certification also makes it a dependable option for families or groups with dietary requirements.
The flexible dining options, including a breezy outdoor seating area, make it a lovely spot to crush a midday meal.
On the downside, consistency seems to be an issue. We were served some undercooked meat on one of our recent visits. This unpredictability in kitchen execution means your dining experience might vary from one visit to the next.
So friendly and generous!
The food is consistently amazing, even the carry-out! The chicken shawarma plate is my usual and the hummus is so good you’ll need a large all to yourself! The family who owns this amazing Indy restaurant are so friendly and generous! Seriously cannot recommend Sahara enough!

The service was top notch!
My girlfriend and I ordered the chicken shawarma and gyro meals w/ garlic, tahini, and hot sauce. They were some of the best that we’ve had around the country. The service was top notch! They brought out tea w/ our meals and even hooked us up w/ some free baklava for dessert. I have never wrote a review, but fealt it necessary after this experience. We will be coming back very soon.

5. Naf Naf Grill

Website: https://www.nafnafgrill.com/
Address: 921 Indiana Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46202
Contact: (317) 669-9400
Hours: Mon – Sunday: 10:30 AM–10 PM
Naf Naf Grill works well for people who want a fast, customizable shawarma-style meal without sacrificing too much on flavor.
The setup is build-your-own, and you can watch the meat carved directly from the vertical spit. This adds a bit of visual appeal to an otherwise quick-service format.
The food itself is generally a strong point. The in-house-baked pita is soft and fluffy, and it holds up well with sauces and toppings.
The customization options make it easy to build something fulfilling on a budget. The combo meals and clear nutrition info are also helpful if you are trying to keep things simple or track what you eat.
Sadly, the customer service here frequently leaves a lot to be desired. Staff interactions can sometimes feel rushed or unfriendly, which takes away from the overall enjoyment.
The portion size was satisfying
During my trip to Indy, I tried the chicken shawarma plate at Naf Naf, and it was exceptionally flavorful and a great value for the money.
The chicken was well-seasoned and tender, accompanied by a variety of fresh chopped salad, hummus, and pita bread. The portion size was satisfying, making it one of the best meals I’ve had.
