The 5 Best Endodontists in Indianapolis for Root Canal Relief

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Specialist Credentials: Board-certified endodontists demonstrate a rigorous understanding of complex dental cases. I focused on doctors with extensive experience handling intricate root canal therapies.

Technology and Techniques: Modern clinics use dental operating microscopes and three-dimensional imaging for precise internal mapping. Those tools can make a real difference in the accuracy of more involved procedures.

Patient Comfort: Dental anxiety is common when surgery or retreatment is on the table. I prioritized practices that appear to take pain control, communication, and chairside comfort seriously.

Reputation and Reviews: Real patient feedback helps show how a practice handles pain, timing, and follow-up care in everyday situations. I looked for clinics with stronger comments around professionalism and effective treatment.

Convenience and Accessibility: A dental emergency already feels stressful enough. I favored offices with practical scheduling, accessible locations, and insurance-friendly policies.

Finding the best endodontist in Indianapolis matters when tooth pain goes from annoying to impossible to ignore.

If your general dentist has referred you out, you may be dealing with an infected pulp, a cracked tooth, or a root canal that needs a second look. That’s not the kind of care I would leave to guesswork.

I looked through local practices known for advanced tools, calmer chairside care, and stronger pain management so you can narrow the field a little faster.

How much does going to an endodontist cost in Indianapolis?

Navigating the cost of a root canal or consultation can feel stressful when you’re already in pain. Expect to pay anywhere from $57 for a basic consultation up to about $2,200 for more complex endodontic surgery in the area.

Severe tooth pain can get overwhelming fast. Indianapolis Endodontics, P.C. stands out for handling root canals, retreatments, and urgent cases with a calm setup that feels less intimidating.

I accompanied a close relative here for an emergency visit, and the staff moved quickly without making the appointment feel rushed.

The practice uses modern tools to clean complex canal systems and also offers microsurgery for deeper infections. Another thing I appreciate is how focused the team seems on saving the natural tooth instead of jumping straight to broader solutions.

If the tooth later needs aesthetic finishing, that path can eventually overlap with the best cosmetic dentists in Indianapolis.

The downside is that you still need to return to your general dentist for the permanent crown afterward. That extra handoff is normal for this kind of specialist care, but it does add another appointment to your recovery.

Pros

  • Utilizes modern structural cleaning tools
  • Offers specialized endodontic microsurgeries
  • Maintains a calm clinical environment
  • Provides dedicated urgent care services

Cons

  • Requires a separate general dentist visit for crowns

Friendly and professional

My son has had a couple of root canals done here.   I also had an oral surgery done at the old location.   They have always been friendly and professional.  They are easy to get a hold of flexible about scheduling.   Their new location is so much better than the old one.   As the pictures demonstrate, the waiting area is comfortable and pleasant. No one wants to have oral surgery or a root canal, but this is the place to go when needed.  😀

Genuinely compassionate

The whole team, from the front office, dental assistant, dentist and check out receptionist made this experience so pleasant (Dr Ley, Korina, Holly).  They all were kind, knowledgeable and genuinely compassionate! I feel like I hit the jackpot with this Endodontics team! Hope I never have to see them again (for tooth pain, that is😄) but if I do have an issue, they are now my people!

2. Indiana Endodontics

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Closed for lunch from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)

Indiana Endodontics feels especially focused, which can be reassuring if you’re coming in with trauma, swelling, or a referral for a difficult case.

The practice limits itself to endodontic care, so the attention stays on inflamed pulp, root canal treatment, retreatment, and surgical cases instead of a wider menu of dental services.

The clinical team, including Dr. Christopher Kutanovski, Dr. Douglas Ramsey, and Dr. James Malooley Jr., also puts clear emphasis on pain control. That matters a lot when you’re already anxious before you sit in the chair.

I was also glad to see that they’re equipped to handle severe dental trauma when standard nonsurgical care is not enough.

The main drawback is that recovery guidance can be stricter here, including a soft-food period and immediate changes to chewing habits after surgery.

Pros

  • Practice limited entirely to endodontic procedures
  • Clinically equipped for severe dental trauma
  • Performs surgical endodontics for complex cases
  • Prioritizes careful pain management

Cons

  • Requires a strict soft-food diet after surgery
  • Immediate chewing changes may be needed

Transparent and reassuring

Dr. Kutanovski and his team are amazing at what they do and are so kind. I was referred Dr. Kutanovski by my dentist for a root canal and they were extremely transparent and reassuring. They made what is objectively a terrible experience so much easier and I would recommend them to anyone who needs an endodontist!

My tooth feels 100% better

Dr. Kutanovski & his team are all great. I loved that they had early morning appointments so I didn’t have to miss work. Everyone was friendly and they have private rooms (not just a large bay with multiple chairs which I keep running into other places). My tooth feels 100% better and I’m never getting a root canal anywhere else ever again. Highly recommend if you’re in the unfortunate position to need to see an endodontist.

Address: 9002 N Meridian St # 201

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Meridian Endodontics is a solid fit if your main goal is preserving the tooth and getting back to your normal routine with as little stress as possible.

Dr. Adam B. Broady and Dr. Sam B. Patterson lead the practice, and the tone here comes across as compassionate without feeling overly polished or scripted.

They offer root canals, retreatments, and apicoectomies, which help when an infection sits deeper at the root.

I was impressed by how much emphasis they place on continuity of care with referring dentists. That kind of coordination can make the next step feel smoother, especially if you’re also comparing other dental clinics in Indianapolis for long-term follow-up.

The tradeoff is that this office works heavily through referrals, so getting in can involve an extra step if you’re trying to book specialist care on your own.

Pros

  • Performs targeted apicoectomies
  • Focuses on compassionate clinical care
  • Uses modern preservation materials
  • Maintains strong referring dentist relationships

Cons

  • Operates primarily as a referral-based practice

Explained everything very well

Had to get a root canal and was a little nervous as my general dentist told me my tooth had 3 roots which I guess is abnormal for the tooth it was. Meridian Endodontics and Dr Patterson were perfect and explained everything very well. I hate sitting still but they made it as comfortable as possible and the dental assistant was a sweetheart and hilarious! I hope I never need another root canal but will definitely be going back here if I do!

The whole staff was wonderful and welcoming

Dr. Patterson was kind and patient. He was thorough with my situation, even knowing my dentist by name despite my dentist not referring me there. I was referred somewhere else that had a 2 week wait and was several hundred dollars more expensive. I would 100% recommend Meridian Endodontics and Dr Patterson. The whole staff was wonderful and welcoming. I called on Monday, had my consult Friday and the following Wednesday my procedure was done.

4. Absolute Endodontics

Address: 725 E 65th St # 400

Contact: (317) 255-8000 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Absolute Endodontics caught my attention because it covers a wider range of internal tooth issues than a standard root canal-only office.

Under Dr. Karen Kamer, the practice handles root canals, retreatments, cracked teeth, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) support, including Botox for select jaw-related concerns.

I found that especially helpful because tooth pain and jaw tension don’t always show up separately in real life.

The office also puts a lot of energy into anxious-patient care, which makes sense for longer or more complicated visits. And if you’re dealing with a previously failed procedure, their retreatment experience is another plus.

The downside is that more complex work can stretch across multiple appointments, so this is probably not the easiest option if you want everything wrapped up in one quick visit.

Pros

  • Provides therapies for cracked teeth
  • Offers alternative TMJ options like Botox
  • Handles comprehensive endodontic retreatments
  • Focuses on anxious patient support

Cons

  • Complex procedures can require multiple visits

As painless as possible

No one enjoys a root canal, however the staff at Absolute aEndodontics make the experience as painless as possible. The business side is handled efficiently by Donna up front, and Ciera (sp?)the dental assistant is cheerful, friendly and took the time to explain the procedure and what to expect. The doctors were wonderful, took care of my tooth, and provided excellent follow up instruction via a good Q&A session

Positive overall

My root canal experience was positive overall. While dental work is never fun, it doesn’t have to be traumatic. Thanks to Dr. Kamer and her skilled staff , I am now pain-free and grateful for the excellent care that I received.

5. Castleton Endodontics

Website: https://www.castletonendo.com/

Address: 8087 Castleton Rd

Contact: (317) 660-8530

Hours: Monday-Sunday, By appointment

Castleton Endodontics feels like a good match for patients who want specialist-led care from a single doctor with strong credentials.

Dr. Saurabh Mannan leads the office, and his background in advanced clinical dentistry and public health adds a reassuring layer if you’re nervous about the procedure itself.

The clinic also sounds easier to walk into than some medical offices because the space is quiet, the lobby is comfortable, and the parking situation is less stressful than usual. I value that kind of small practical detail when someone’s already dealing with pain.

The main limitation is that visits are by appointment only. So while the setting may feel calmer once you’re inside, it’s not the most convenient choice for a true walk-in emergency.

Pros

  • Care administered by a board-certified specialist
  • Features a quiet and accessible facility
  • The lead doctor holds formal academic recognition
  • Tucked-away location with ample parking

Cons

  • Operates strictly by appointment only

They all made this process painless

He did absolutely amazing including his assistants. I was absolutely terrified for the root canal but they all made this process painless, and great. They allowed me to listen to some country music while doing the work, absolutely made me feel so comfortable, including giving me a blanket since I was cold. Absolutely amazing service! Come to them to get your teeth fixed, you won’t regret it! 😌

Wonderful staff and experience

What a WONDERFUL staff and experience! So professional and thorough. They took their time and made sure I was prepared and comfortable. We listened to my favorite music, and they even hummed along. I hate x-rays, and they were sensitive to that. Felt NOTHING with the numbing shots. I am so grateful that they worked with me! Anita was amazing and thoughtful, and Destiny was so helpful!
