1. Hanna’s Banh Mi Bakery and Cafe

Website: https://hannasbanhmi.com/
Address: 8510 Center Run Drive Indianapolis, IN 46250
Contact: (317)-685-9999
Hours: Sun-Mon 11:00 AM-7:00 PM, Wed-Thu 11:00 AM-7:00 PM, Fri-Sat 11:00 AM-9:00 PM
Stepping inside Hanna’s Banh Mi Bakery and Cafe immediately hits you with the smell of fresh-baked bread, and that’s really their standout strength.
They bake their baguettes and pastries in-house each morning. This gives their banh mi a crisp, airy crust that holds up well to generous fillings.
We recently tried their footlong banh mi. The bread texture alone, rackly on the outside, soft inside, was easily the highlight.
The menu leans into that authentic Vietnamese-French fusion style, and it’s clear they focus on doing a few things well rather than overcomplicating the lineup.
That said, the grab-and-go items can be inconsistent. Some pre-packed options don’t always have the same freshness as what you get made-to-order.
Prices are also a bit higher than average, but the quality and specialization generally make up for it.
Overall, it’s a strong pick if you’re mainly there for fresh bread and well-built sandwiches rather than convenience snacks.
This was the best I’ve had
Let’s start by saying I give this place a 10 out of 10 for their food. This was my first visit, stopped by to grab a banh mi & went with the grilled pork to go. This was the best I’ve had, flavorful meat grilled to perfection, crunchy pickled veggies, and the baguette was perfect. Don’t walk, run to this place if you want the real deal!

The pho, the banh mi, it was all great.
Hanna’s Banh Mi Bakery and Cafe is fantastic. It’s a cafe so you order at the counter and then they give you a number and they bring you the food. The pho, the banh mi, it was all great. The banh mi specifically was one of the best I have had in my life. I think the one I had was called Hanna’s Special. I highly recommend it. My partner had the veggie banh mi and said it was wonderful as well. Before we left we got both an ice and hot Vietnamese Coffee which was wonderful too.

Craving authentic Vietnamese comfort food often brings diners to What The Phở, a clean and welcoming spot that focuses on traditional preparation and balanced flavors.
The menu goes well beyond banh mi, covering a wide range of rice dishes and noodle soups that lean into classic Vietnamese cooking.
Their version of the banh mi stands out because it uses a softer bread instead of the typical crusty baguette. It’s a small but intentional change that makes the sandwich easier to eat, even if it does trade away some of the traditional crunch and pâté-forward style.
Even with a few modern tweaks, it stays rooted in familiar Vietnamese flavors that work well for everyday dining.
The generous portions and affordable pricing also make it a strong option for a quick, satisfying lunch.
Delicious food
Great local place to find quick and delicious food. When I was vegan I would come from the other side of town for their tofu Banh Mi and Veggie spring rolls. Now, even though I am no longer strictly plant based, I still come by because these always hit the spot (warm, savory, with the right amount of kick). I’ve also tried other dishes (with and w/out meat) and found them yummy. Definitely check out this small business and support local this (end every) season!

Finding an inexpensive but satisfying meal is definitely doable here. Pho Tasty leans into that idea with affordable, authentic Vietnamese dishes that make it a go-to for budget-conscious diners.
One standout is their banh mi options. We especially liked the tofu banh mi, which comes through with fresh herbs and a well-balanced marinade that makes it especially memorable for a simple, quick meal.
That said, the overall experience isn’t always perfectly smooth. Service can feel a bit rushed or unfriendly during peak hours, and the consistency of some side dishes can vary from visit to visit.
Even with those issues, the strong core menu and low prices keep it a reliable option for a casual, filling meal.

I used to live in an area with a large Vietnamese population and this bahn mi was by far the superior specimen plenty of tofu awesome balance of flavors delicious bread, served warm. it even has a vegan brown eel sauce that is so tasty. Elevating street food into something more refined, Eating Fresh follows a strict made-to-order approach, preparing each dish only when it’s requested.
The focus is on fresh ingredients and house-made components, which gives the menu a more premium take on familiar street-style flavors.
Because everything is cooked from scratch, wait times can be noticeably longer than in a typical fast-casual restaurant. That same process is also part of what shapes the experience, especially with their cast-iron grill preparation and upgraded toppings that set the dishes apart.
That said, the system isn’t always seamless during busy hours. Orders can occasionally get delayed or misplaced when the kitchen is under pressure.
Even so, for diners who are willing to wait, the emphasis on freshness and upgraded ingredients makes it a more distinctive take on quick-service street food.
Pros and Cons
Bahn Mi sandwich was the talk of the week!
Best Vietnamese restaurant in Indianapolis hands down! I got the pleasure of meeting and talking with the Executive Chief Ricky Phan, his passion for his restaurant is something that you only see from time to time at very high end places.

Capturing the energy of Southeast Asian street food is the main focus at Chao Vietnamese Street Food. It takes a straightforward, flavor-first approach with handcrafted dishes and a focus on fresher, lighter ingredients.
The setup is designed for quick ordering, often pairing a banh mi-style sandwich with a bowl of broth for a convenient combo meal.
While the ingredients are generally bright and fresh, the overall flavor can lean a bit mild, so many diners end up relying more on the provided condiments to boost intensity.
There are also occasional inconsistencies with vegetable texture, where garnishes may not always arrive at peak crispness.
Even with those small variations, the variety and accessible street-food style keep it a popular choice for quick, satisfying lunches.
Had the pork banh mi and it was amazing
This has to be the most underrated restaurant in the area. I say this because it doesn’t get as full as I think it should based on the amazing food they have. I have been here so many times and it’s always so good! I always get that beef Pho and the mango smoothie. Today I had the pork banh mi and it was amazing. Highly recommended spot for lunch! Staff is always very friendly and all tables look clean. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

Everything tasted great
I had the lunch special, chose pork banh mi and beef pho with a fresh mango smoothie, while my fiancée got a regular portion of beef pho with a Thai iced tea with boba. Service was quick, and everything tasted great. The mango smoothie tasted fresh and delicious. Their house hoisin sauce was good on the banh mi. Overall, it was good atmosphere and the food and drinks were great
