These 5 Shops Deliver the Best Furniture Restoration in Indianapolis

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Expertise & Techniques: I looked for professionals who show a deep understanding of period-appropriate restoration and complex woodworking. That matters because delicate pieces need careful handling that protects the original design.

Quality of Work: I gave priority to workshops that use high-grade materials and produce natural-looking finishes. I also paid attention to whether repairs blend in cleanly instead of standing out like obvious patches.

Turnaround Time & Service: Nobody wants a dining table stuck in a shop for months, so I considered communication and realistic project timelines. I also gave extra credit to businesses that make pickup and delivery easier.

Pricing & Transparency: I focused on specialists that seem upfront about labor, materials, and estimate expectations. Clear pricing matters when you are deciding whether a piece is worth restoring.

Reputation & Reviews: A strong track record still matters, so I looked at local feedback for consistency and reliability. I favored businesses that repeatedly earn praise for craftsmanship, communication, and follow-through.

Finding the right team for furniture restoration in Indianapolis can feel like a big gamble, especially when the piece carries family history or came from a lucky estate sale.

I know how stressful it is to hand over a worn table, antique chair, or damaged cabinet and hope it comes back looking cared for instead of overworked.

That is why I looked for local shops that respect original materials, handle repairs carefully, and communicate clearly about what they can and cannot do.

This guide rounds up the providers that stood out for wood refinishing, structural fixes, specialty restoration, and practical service around Indianapolis.

How much does furniture restoration cost in Indianapolis?

In Indianapolis, furniture restoration typically ranges from $250 for minor repairs to $3,000+ for full heirloom restoration, with many local professionals offering free initial quotes based on photographs of your piece.

Mid-Scale Refinishing$600 – $1,500
Antique & Full Restoration$1,500 – $5,000+

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Seeing a nasty water ring on a beloved oak table is the kind of damage that makes most people panic. Handcraft Restoration seems especially strong with that sort of problem.

I had them look at a heavily scratched mid-century credenza. What stood out to me was how well the structural repairs blended into the original design, rather than looking patched over.

They also apply durable finishes that feel built for real daily wear, not just display pieces. I was impressed by the careful color matching and the way they handle grain patterns on aging leather.

The main drawback is the extra cost of an in-home estimate, so the project can start with a fee before any repair work begins.

Pros

  • Minimizes visual flaws from deep water damage
  • Merges structural repairs with original designs
  • Applies highly durable wood finishes
  • Matches grain patterns on aging leather

Cons

  • Charges a fee for in-home estimates

Made it look better than new

Aaron refinished our dining room table, and it turned out absolutely beautiful! It had an orangey color, shiny finish from poly, and lots of scratches and gouges from over a decade of heavy kid wear and tear. He made it look better than it did when it was new. He was great to work with, super responsive, and the price was reasonable. I’d absolutely call Handcraft Restoration again for any further furniture work!

Made our patio furniture look brand new

Aaron took our weather worn patio furniture and made it look brand new! He did an absolutely incredible job! He even custom-made a color to our specification. Pick up and drop off were included in his service. We would highly recommend Aaron for any restoration project you may have! You will not be disappointed.

2. Fibrenew Indianapolis Metro North

Areas Served: Indianapolis

Contact: [email protected] | (317) 849-5000

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Dragging a heavy sofa across town is a hassle, which is why the mobile setup from Fibrenew Indianapolis Metro North stands out right away.

This team comes to you to patch, dye, and repair leather or vinyl furniture, and that kind of on-site service can save a lot of time and strain.

They also handle split seams, broken chair mechanisms, and other functional issues in the home.

I also like that they work on more specialized non-fabric pieces, including medical exam tables and marine seating. Their stain removal and conditioning services can be especially useful when leather is dry, marked, or starting to crack.

The limitation is pretty clear, though. Their scope stays focused on non-fabric materials, so they are not the shop to call for a traditional wooden restoration project.

Pros

  • Operates entirely on-site for convenience
  • Services specialized medical and marine seating
  • Fixes split seams and broken chair mechanisms
  • Removes deep ink stains effectively

Cons

  • Limits scope to non-fabric materials
  • Cannot restore traditional wooden furniture

Top-notch from start to finish

I highly recommend Fibrenew for restoration service. From initial contact, there was courteous, considerate communication. This couple was a joy to work with; they display excellent service, excellent work, friendly conversation, and timely updates. I cannot say one thing I would change regarding my experience with this company/couple. Top-notch!

The cost was very reasonable

I am extremely satisfied with the new cushions that they placed in my worn couch cushions. The process moved very smooth from the original inspection of my couch thru the quoting and timing of completing the cushions. I feel that the cost was very reasonable.

I will use them again for any furniture repair needs, and I would definitely recommend them to my friends.

3. Hoosierboy Restorations

Website: https://hoosierboyrestorations.com

Address: 5858 Churchman Ave

Contact: [email protected] | (317) 734-3903

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Vintage collectors usually need a very different kind of repair shop. Hoosierboy Restorations leans hard into historical conservation instead of standard household furniture work.

They stand out for sandblasting rusted metal components and even making replacement parts when original vintage pieces are no longer available.

What I respect most is their effort to preserve. They use reversible methods that help preserve the long-term value of memorabilia while maintaining the original look.

The tradeoff is that this specialty is very narrow. Their work is far more aligned with metal toys and collector pieces than with a standard wooden dining table or dresser.

Pros

  • Sandblasts heavily rusted metal components
  • Manufactures vintage replacement parts
  • Preserves original aesthetic of pedal cars
  • Uses reversible restoration techniques

Cons

  • Does not align with standard wood needs

True Hoosier hospitality and talent

Thank you to Tim Showalter at Hoosierboy Restoration who has repaired several of our 1950’s Koken barber chairs.  Looked all over the country from California to New York for someone to do this and the most courteous and customer service driven person was right here as our “neighbor” with that true Hoosier hospitality and talent.  He provides great communication and updates about our projects and has been able to repair and replace parts on these chairs to put them back in working order when other repair businesses wouldn’t do it.  Thank you from the Beech Grove Barber Shop!

Bringing your items back to life

i’ve taken a few items to Tim for restoration and repair and I’ll have to say that he has an incredible talent for bringing your items back to life.  I highly recommend Tim with any item you might have to be restored

4. Markusfeld Restoration

Website: http://www.markusfeldrestoration.com/

Address: 16412 Oak Rd, Westfield

Contact: (317) 727-1536

Hours: Thursday-Saturday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Stripping an antique of its patina can permanently diminish both its character and value, which is where Markusfeld Restoration makes its strongest case. Their approach centers on careful, preservation-first methodology when it matters most.

Under Guy Markusfield, the shop uses chemical-free conditioning methods to revive fine furnishings without relying on harsh strippers. They also handle structural repairs in the home, which can be a real plus for heavier antique pieces.

Another thing I appreciate is the specialized work beyond tables and cabinetry. They also clean and rewire antique light fixtures, and they deal with practical hardware issues like stripped screws and broken hinges.

The downside is that the service feels best suited to high-value European antiques. If you only want to freshen up everyday budget furniture, this level of specialization may not be the most cost-effective route.

Pros

  • Avoids harsh chemical strippers entirely
  • Rewires and cleans antique light fixtures
  • Fixes stripped screws and broken hinges
  • Performs routine structural repairs in-home

Cons

  • Tailors services to European antiques
  • Not cost-effective for everyday budget furniture

Skilled artisans, dependable, and fair

As a client of Markusfeld Restoration for many years, I recommend them without reservation. Fine antique furniture sometimes needs tender loving care, and Guy Markusfeld and his team are the craftsmen to do the work. They are not only skilled artisans, but they are also polite to a fault, dependable, and fair. I don’t know what I would do without them!

An expert craftsman and very professional

Guy Markusfeld did an amazing job restoring some severely mistreated furniture that has been in our family for a long time: a mid-century chair that belonged to my grandfather and a pair of dressers that have also been in the family for years. He is an expert craftsman and very professional. It was a pleasure working with him and I hope to bring other family heirlooms to his shop again!

5. Second Time Around

second-time-around-logo

Website: https://secondtimearoundrefinishing.com/

Address: 1776 Hannibal St, Noblesville

Contact: [email protected] | (317) 776-0877

Hours: By appointment only

Second Time Around is a reliable choice for jobs that go beyond a simple cosmetic touch-up and a piece needs real structural recovery.

They focus on heavy wood restoration after fire or water damage. That kind of specialty can make a big difference when a dining set or cabinet has been through more than everyday wear.

They also tighten loose joints and repair damaged hardware on older pieces. When my neighbor dealt with a minor kitchen fire shortly after needing oven repair, this was the team she called to help recover her charred dining set.

They also offer pickup and delivery, which takes some of the strain out of moving heavy furniture.

The one frustration is access. Consultations are by appointment because the team is often out of the shop, so it is not a great fit if you want immediate walk-in help.

Pros

  • Handles complex fire and flood recovery
  • Arranges convenient pickup and delivery
  • Modifies and tightens loose joints
  • Repairs damaged hardware on older cabinets

Cons

  • Requires scheduled appointments

So grateful for his expertise and craftsmanship

I had hired another furniture repair person to re-glue my old rocker. However, he returned the chair to me in pieces with the joints broken. I wasn’t sure it could be put back together. John took on the project and finished it in about a month. I’m so grateful for his expertise and craftsmanship. Would highly recommend.

Very quick and excellent service

The past month I took two chairs to be caned and John did an excellent job on them both. One was broken in the chair seat and he repaired it—could not tell where it was broken. Very quick and excellent service and very reasonably priced. I give him a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I would recommend him and this store and will go there again if I need furniture repaired. A very pleased customer.
