5 Best Gynecologists in Indianapolis That Will Be There for Every Milestone

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

  • Accessibility and Affordability: We looked at clinics that accept various insurance plans or offer financial assistance. Finding a doctor who fits your budget is just as important as the medical care itself.

  • Range of Services: We chose facilities that handle everything from routine checkups to complex surgeries. It’s convenient to stay with the same provider if your health needs change.

  • Patient Comfort and Environment: We considered the overall atmosphere of the clinics. A supportive and welcoming environment helps reduce the anxiety often associated with these visits.

  • Operating Hours: We checked the schedules of each clinic to see if they accommodate busy women. Having access to evening or weekend appointments is a huge plus for working mothers.

Finding the best gynecologist in Indianapolis can feel overwhelming when you just want a doctor who truly listens. Whether you need a routine exam or are navigating a high-risk pregnancy, having a trusted provider can make all the difference.

For many families, healthcare planning extends beyond women’s health alone. Between choosing a pediatric clinic for a new baby and managing your own care, it helps to have reliable medical professionals you can trust.

That’s why I put together this guide to help you find a gynecologist who fits your needs, preferences, and budget. Let’s take a look at some of the top-rated clinics in Indianapolis.

Website: https://janepauleychc.org/location/shadeland-avenue/

Address: 2040 N. Shadeland Ave, Suite 300

Contact: 463-209-8503

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Jane Pauley Community Health Center offers a comprehensive approach to care by bringing medical, dental, and behavioral health services together in one location.

This makes it a convenient option for patients who want to manage multiple healthcare needs without visiting several different providers.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), it’s especially valuable for those without insurance or anyone looking for affordable care.

The clinic also assists with health insurance enrollment, helping patients access coverage and essential services more easily.

One thing to keep in mind is that this is a busy community health center rather than a specialized gynecology practice. Higher patient volumes can lead to longer wait times.

Plus, appointments are limited to weekday operating hours since the clinic is closed on weekends.

Pros

  • Accessible integrated care regardless of ability to pay
  • Free healthcare enrollment assistance
  • Sliding fee scale for uninsured patients
  • Combines obstetrics with family medicine and pediatrics

Cons

  • High patient volumes cause longer wait times
  • No weekend or evening hours

2. OB/GYN of Indiana – Indianapolis South

obgyn-of-indiana-indianapolis-south

Website: https://axiawh.com/locations/ob-gyn-of-indiana-south/

Address: 8051 S Emerson Ave, Suite 400, Franciscan Medical Office Building, Entrance #8

Contact: 317-865-3600

Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM

OB/GYN of Indiana focuses exclusively on women’s healthcare, offering everything from routine wellness exams to advanced gynecologic procedures.

As part of the Axia Women’s Health network, patients benefit from specialized care, modern facilities, and access to experienced providers dedicated to women’s health.

It’s the kind of environment that helps patients feel comfortable discussing even sensitive health concerns.

During a recent visit for a routine checkup, I was impressed by how welcoming and attentive the staff was. The nurses even took time to answer my questions thoroughly.

The main drawback is accessibility. As a traditional private practice, health insurance requirements can be more restrictive than those at community health centers.

The office also closes early on Fridays and doesn’t offer weekend appointments, which may require some patients to arrange time away from work.

Pros

  • Specialized private environment backed by the Axia network
  • Exclusive focus on comprehensive women’s health
  • Access to modern patient-focused facilities
  • Highly rated physicians and nurse practitioners

Cons

  • Stricter health insurance requirements
  • No weekend availability

Customer Reviews:

The lady who drew my blood was AMAZING

I have not been to an OBGYN doctor for a few years and I was very nervous but all the staff made me feel comfortable and very cared for. The lady who drew my blood was AMAZING and I thank them for making that my first visit to not feel overwhelmed or have bad anxiety about getting the blood drawn. You guys are the best

Bowers always takes the time to review my history

I have nothing negative to say about this practice. Working in the medical field I appreciate the struggles that come with it. However, the office has always kept the patient flow efficient while keeping a warm and positive attitude with all patients. Dr Bowers always takes the time to review my history thoroughly and be invested in my well being. Thank you Dr Bowers and staff, well done! ❤️

3. Eskenazi Health OB/GYN

eskenazi-health-obgyn

Website: https://www.eskenazihealth.edu/locations/primary-care-OCC2

Address: Sandra Eskenazi Outpatient Care Center, 2nd Floor, 720 Eskenazi Ave.

Contact: 317-880-7000

Hours:

  • Monday – Wednesday: 7:30 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Thursday & Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Eskenazi Health offers comprehensive women’s healthcare backed by one of the region’s leading safety-net hospitals.

Here, patients have access to a wide range of specialists, emergency services, and advanced care resources in one location, making the clinic an excellent option for those with complex medical needs or high-risk pregnancies.

Another thing that I like about them is that they offer evening appointments and Saturday availability, which allows working women to fit healthcare into busy schedules.

Eskenazi Health also places a strong emphasis on health equity, with bilingual services and programs designed to improve access to care for diverse communities.

But because the clinic operates within a large hospital campus, appointments can sometimes feel less streamlined than those at smaller private practices.

Navigating the campus, parking garages, and busy outpatient areas may add extra time to what would otherwise be a routine visit.

Pros

  • Comprehensive care backed by a top-tier hospital
  • Excellent schedule with evening and Saturday hours
  • Immediate access to emergency and specialist care
  • Strong focus on bilingual services and health equity

Cons

  • Chaotic environment in a massive outpatient center
  • Parking can be quite stressful

Customer Reviews:

Very caring, helpful, and professional

Staff are very friendly. Only negative experience I have is billing related and not their fault. Every single staff member has been amazing in the obgyn department and the door staff at entry as well. Huge thanks to the lady who helped me after hours a few nights ago, I think her name may have been Bridgette (or close to that). Very caring, helpful, and professional. Very different from when I used to attend Wishard about 15 years ago. Beautiful hospital / very clean.

I am grateful for the care that I received

Thank you Nurse Britney, Kayla, Carey, Cory, and Maggie for being awesome professionals! You guys cared for my baby and me with so much love! I am grateful for the care that I received and I appreciate you all more than you ever know!

Thank you!!!!

4. Franciscan Health Center for Women & Children

franciscan-health-center-for-women-children

Website: https://www.franciscanhealth.org/find-a-location/franciscan-health-center-women-children

Address: 8111 S. Emerson Ave.

Contact: 317-528-5541

Hours: No hours specified

For women seeking access to advanced hospital resources, Franciscan Health Center offers a level of care that goes well beyond routine gynecology services.

The facility is equipped with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists, and robotic-assisted surgical technology, making it a particularly strong option for high-risk pregnancies and complex gynecological conditions.

The depth of expertise available here is a major advantage. A friend of mine delivered twins at Franciscan and often spoke about how attentive and reassuring the care team was throughout the entire process.

However, the hospital setting may not appeal to everyone. The experience can feel more institutional than a smaller private clinic.

Another thing to note is that appointment information isn’t always easy to find. In many cases, you’ll need to call directly to check availability and schedule a visit.

Pros

  • Advanced hospital-based center for high-acuity care
  • Level III NICU for high-risk pregnancies
  • Minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgical options
  • Recognized for safe sleep safety standards

Cons

  • Institutional feel of a hospital department
  • Appointment scheduling and hours lack transparency

Customer Reviews:

St. Francis is definitely the nicest, cleanest

Just had my baby here! For some background, we’re a military family — I’ve delivered at NYC’s Booth Memorial Hospital (don’t know what they’re called now though), Onslow County Hospital in NC, and BACH at Fort Campbell — St. Francis is definitely the nicest, cleanest, and best overall experience of all four pregnancies; which includes prenatal care at Southside Ob/Gyn, labor and delivery, and recovery too. We’re actually a short walking distance from Johnson Memorial Hospital, but I rather make the 30-minutes drive to St. Francis instead, and I’m so glad I did! It’s the best choice I chose for myself, and well worth the commute!

Helped us through a lot with our delivery

The Women and Children’s Center at Franciscan Health is amazing. The staff is helpful, professional, and so caring. Every employee was terrific and special shout-out to the labor and delivery team. Chanelle and Breanna are superheroes and helped us through a lot with our delivery. Can’t recommend this place enough for welcoming a little one into the world.

5. HealthNet Downtown Health Center

healthnet-downtown-health-center

Website: https://www.indyhealthnet.org/locations/downtown-health-center

Address: Methodist Professional Center 1 – 1801 North Senate Blvd., Suite 310

Contact: 317-957-2070

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

If affordability and personalized support are at the top of your priority list, HealthNet Downtown Health Center deserves a closer look. Rather than focusing on a hospital-style experience, the clinic emphasizes accessible, community-centered care.

They provide a broad range of reproductive and women’s health services.

Their Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) program is a standout feature for women seeking a more hands-on and low-intervention approach to pregnancy, childbirth, and prenatal care.

That commitment to accessibility extends beyond maternity services. HealthNet accepts Medicaid and offers sliding-scale fees based on income. The downtown location also makes it a practical option for patients who rely only on public transportation.

Of course, being a popular community resource comes with a few tradeoffs. The clinic shares space with family medicine and pediatric services, creating a busier atmosphere than you might find at a dedicated women’s health practice.

Appointment availability can also be limited at times due to strong demand for the affordable care programs.

Pros

  • Empowering accessible midwife-led maternal care
  • Accepts Medicaid and offers a sliding fee program
  • Convenient downtown location connected to the Methodist Professional Center
  • Excellent program for personalized low-intervention births

Cons

  • Lacks a private, women-only clinic atmosphere
  • High demand causes scheduling delays

Customer Reviews:

I’ve never had a bad experience here

I will ALWAYS go to HealthNet midwives for care. These are some of the nicest, professional, up to date providers I have ever met. They listen intently and prove time and time again that they actually care. These midwives are able to support you in your all natural essential oil delivery AND save your life if you delivery doesn’t go as planned. Does the waiting room look a little run down? Yes. But I’ve never had a bad experience here. Don’t underestimate this place!

My favorite nurse, Kristen, is comforting

I can not complain. I come here so often because of my risk factors. I can not give one bad opinion. I absolutely love this place! The staff members are extremely nice. Hailey is just the best she’s extremely attentive. My favorite nurse, Kristen, is comforting. She is one of the best I’ve come across. I appreciate all the care that has been provided to me. I suggest that you give this clinic a chance.
