The 5 Best Korean BBQ Joints in Indianapolis for Sizzles and Spices

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Meat Quality and Freshness: A stellar barbecue experience lives or dies by the marbling and freshness of its proteins. We looked for establishments that consistently serve tender cuts rather than lackluster options.

Value for Money: Dining out should feel rewarding when committing to an all-you-can-eat format. We evaluated the variety and portion sizes offered against the final bill to ensure your wallet stays happy.

Authenticity of Flavors: Capturing the true essence of Seoul street food requires traditional marinades and a solid lineup of side dishes. Establishments maintaining classic recipes and authentic cooking methods scored higher on our list.

Dining Atmosphere and Service: Grilling your own food requires a specific environment and attentive staff to swap out grill plates. We prioritized spots that foster a warm vibe while keeping the service swift.

There’s nothing quite like the intoxicating aroma of marinated short ribs hitting a blisteringly hot grill.

While we love exploring other fantastic Asian restaurants or sitting down for an intimate omakase experience, sometimes you just need to roll up your sleeves and grill your own dinner.

If you’re hunting for the best Korean BBQ in Indianapolis, your taste buds are in for a wild, savory ride. This city has some incredible spots to satisfy those cravings. Let’s dive into the most flavorful interactive dining experiences the town has to offer.

Stepping into HAN immediately hits you with the mouthwatering scent of sizzling meats and bubbling broths. This spot uniquely combines an interactive tabletop grill with a personal hot pot, letting you customize a massive feast right at your seat.

They focus heavily on premium ingredients, promising top-tier cuts that really elevate the entire meal. I visited last weekend with a few friends, and cooking our own garlic pork belly while simmering spicy seafood broth was wildly entertaining.

The open ingredient bar adds a fantastic layer of convenience while you wait for your main proteins to cook. You’ll even find a robot delivering drinks, adding a quirky modern touch to the dining room.

Unfortunately, the overall price point leans toward the higher end, and a few cuts of meat can occasionally miss the mark on tenderness.

Pros

  • AYCE BBQ and hot pot combo
  • Wide selection of broths and proteins
  • Fun robot drink delivery
  • Ideal setting for group gatherings

Cons

  • Premium price tag
  • Occasional inconsistencies in meat tenderness

Exceeded my expectations

HAN’ exceeded my expectations! Our server was so attentive and helpful explaining the process. We ordered the hot pot and bbq and got a variety of meats. Our favorite meat was the bulgogi beef. The cooler had lots of options of fixings of noodles and vegetables. We loved the hot buffets wings and egg rolls. We got a variety of their teas and I love the pine passionfruit!

The lively, energetic atmosphere at K-TOWN makes it a go-to place for families and friend groups looking for a serious feast.

Their dual-concept approach allows diners to enjoy both traditional gogigui (meat grilling) and customizable hot pot simultaneously. You get to build your own meal from a remarkably extensive menu of proteins and fresh vegetables.

The staff here does a fantastic job guiding newcomers through the cooking process, ensuring your brisket gets that perfect char without burning. There’s also upbeat background music that keeps the social energy high throughout the entire dinner.

  • Vibrant and modern ambiance
  • Beginner-friendly staff assistance

Cons

  • Certain meat cuts can be chewy

Did not disappoint.

Best Korean BBQ in Indianapolis! I saw that they recently started posting on TikTok and decided to give it a try. Did not disappoint. Price is very fair for what you get in return. They also gave me a free meal for my birthday!! 10/10

A huge menu

Talk about a fun experience! With a huge menu when it comes to the hot pot and the bbq makes it so enjoyable. Our server Timmy was awesome and kept us smiling whenever he checked on us. The robot that brings the drinks is also a fun treat!

Address: 3851 Vincennes Rd

Hours: Sun – Thu: 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM | Fri – Sat: 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Finding a spot that blends premium steakhouse vibes with traditional tabletop grilling is quite a treat.

GANGNAM KOREAN STEAKHOUSE delivers exactly that by offering an all-you-can-eat setup featuring higher-end cuts like ribeye alongside an extensive hot pot selection.

My partner and I recently spent a date night here, and the massive sauce bar allowed us to create some seriously addictive flavor combinations for our brisket. They even throw sushi into the mix, giving you plenty to snack on before the grills heat up.

Their value-focused pricing is the main draw, a structure that promises an indulgent feast without hitting you with hidden fees at the end.

Just be aware that the tabletop grills can sometimes lack the necessary heat for a quick sear, and the service occasionally slows down during peak dinner rushes.

Pros

  • Premium meat tiers available
  • Extensive sauce and side bar
  • Sushi is included on the menu
  • Fun communal dining vibe

Cons

  • Inconsistent grill heating temperatures
  • Sluggish service on busy nights

This food was probably the best

The food was great, nice and clean atmosphere and grills. The server was excellent. She was very attentive and helped as needed. We have been to a few Korean bbq/hot pot places around town and this food was probably the best. The fried chicken was amazing!

It did not disappoint.

My daughter and I are huge hot pot and Korean bbq fans and had to try the new restaurant.  It did not disappoint.  We thought they had better quality than their competitors.  The standouts for us was the prime beef brisket, mussels and and shrimp.   I could not find there menu online so I made sure to take a picture to post here.

Tucked away on Pendleton Pike, this unassuming eatery focuses entirely on delivering a deeply authentic cultural experience.

Bando Korean Restaurant skips the flashy modern gimmicks to highlight house-made marinades, including short ribs that soak in flavor for a full ten hours.

Their menu also stretches far beyond standard barbecue, offering massive bowls of comforting kimchi stew and classic rice dishes.

The casual, welcoming environment feels like stepping into a family dining room, complete with a generous spread of complimentary side dishes. Lunchtime visitors can also take advantage of incredibly budget-friendly specials without sacrificing flavor.

Just keep in mind that the initial meat portions can feel a bit small, and certain side dishes occasionally suffer from a slightly soggy texture.

Pros

  • Deeply authentic traditional recipes
  • Affordable lunch menus
  • Massive menu of soups and stews
  • Generous side dish variety

Cons

  • Smaller initial meat servings
  • Occasional texture issues with sides

My personal favorite

One of the best Korean BBQ restaurants in town. The other being a mile up the road. Offers both BBQ and Dine-in service. This is only place outside of California and New York to offer myeolchi bokkeum (spicy anchovies) as a banchan (Korean side dishes), my personal favorite.

The waitstaff is very friendly and made us feel welcomed every time we visited.

The food was delicious.

This was my first time eating Korean cuisine…and it will not be the last! The food was delicious. We had the pork belly and the short ribs. So good. They also provided a nice vaierty of side dishes to accompany the bbq. I will be back!

Friday 11:30AM–2PM, 4:30–10PM

Saturday 11:30AM–10PM

Sunday 11:30AM–9PM

Very few culinary institutions in the city hold as much history and comforting charm as this beloved dining staple. Ma Ma’s Korean Restaurant leans into over thirty years of experience to serve up traditional, home-style recipes prepared the old-fashioned way.

Their secret weapon is a proprietary house-made sauce that coats their charcoal-grilled proteins in layers of smoky, sweet perfection. The kitchen refuses to cut corners, providing a true taste of Seoul right here in the Midwest.

I love that there are also large party rooms, making this an ideal location for loud birthday celebrations or messy family dinners.

You should, however, pack a little extra patience, as order accuracy and table service can become noticeably erratic when the dining room fills up.

Pros

  • Thirty years of culinary consistency
  • Authentic charcoal grilling flavors
  • Private party rooms available
  • Diverse home-style menu options

Cons

  • Frequent delays in table service
  • Occasional mistakes with kitchen orders

Meats are super fresh

Best Korean barbecue in Indianapolis. Meats are super fresh and well prepared. Side dishes are diverse and super flavorful. Real charcoal makes the charred flavors come to life. Great portions and awesome service. Changed out the grate several times as we continued to cook out meats. Appetizers were awesome as well. My family loves this place.

Very unique

Awesome Korean bbq with really fresh banchan dishes. The atmosphere is really old school which adds to the home charm of Ma Ma’s. This makes the restaurant very unique compared to the recent rise of slick new bbq Korean fare.
