Finding the best pasta in Indianapolis gets a lot easier once you know which places locals return to when they want more than a heavy plate of noodles.
Some nights call for a romantic villa, while others are better suited to a lively patio dinner or a reliable family spot with old-school red sauce comfort.
I focused on restaurants that get the basics right, from properly cooked pasta to sauces with real depth and an atmosphere worth settling into.
Along the way, I also found standout Italian restaurants and even a few options that make catering feel a little easier when pasta is part of a bigger celebration.
How much does pasta cost in Indianapolis?
Pasta in Indianapolis generally ranges from $13 to $25 per entrée, depending on the restaurant style and how elaborate the dish is.
| Dining Style | Average Price Range |
| Casual / Budget | Under $13 |
| Family-Style | $18 – $22 |
| Mid-Range to Upscale | $15 – $25 |
1. Mama Carolla’s

Website: https://www.mamacarollas.com/
Address: 1031 E 54th Street
Contact: (317) 259-9412
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM (Friday and Saturday walk-in only)
Stepping into Mama Carolla’s feels more like walking into a preserved Mediterranean villa than a standard restaurant. That setting alone makes it a strong date-night pick, but the bigger draw is how warm and homey the food feels once it hits the table.
Their sauces and pasta dishes are made to order, and the menu has enough seafood and classic options to keep repeat visits interesting. I also appreciate that most dishes can be made with gluten-free penne, which makes this place easier for mixed groups.
The tradeoff is the wait. Because seating is largely first-come, first-served, busy nights can drag out longer than most people expect. A few diners have also mentioned occasional temperature or texture hiccups when the dining room gets slammed.
Still, when the kitchen is on, this place absolutely nails that comforting Italian dinner mood.
A great date night spot!
Second time here & it was as wonderful as I remembered. The prosciutto and melon appetizer was a delight to the senses – mixing sweet & salty. Our server recommended the Mediterranean salad & it was also delicious. The service was timely & professional. A great date night spot! The Mediterranean pasta was extremely delicious and the spumoni gelato was like no other! Highly recommend if you’re looking for the best Italian dishes around, but expect a wait unless you have a large party with reservations.

A top choice for dining in Indy
Mama Corolla’s is a great choice for dates, hanging with friends, or family dinners. I’ve tried almost everything there, and I highly recommend the Pasta Too Good with Alfredo sauce. As an appetizer the mussels are always a solid choice too. Its combination of elegance and reasonable pricing makes it a top choice for dining in Indy.

2. Iozzo’s Garden of Italy

Website: https://iozzos.com/
Address: 946 South Meridian Street
Contact: (317) 974-1100
Hours: Monday-Friday, 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Lunch); Monday-Thursday, 3:30 PM – 9:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Sunday, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Iozzo’s Garden of Italy works well when I want pasta in a setting that feels polished without becoming stiff. The courtyard patio is gorgeous, and the room inside still keeps that family-owned warmth.
Their house-made noodles, generous portions, and strong wine program make it easy to settle in for a full dinner instead of a quick entrée.
I was glad to see alternative noodle options too, since that kind of flexibility matters when everyone at the table wants something different.
The main issue is consistency. Some diners have run into sauces that are too salty, watery, or just slightly off balance. A few stuffed pasta dishes can also land drier than expected.
Even with that, Iozzo’s remains a strong pick for a patio dinner and a plate of classic pasta in a more refined setting.
Sensational pasta carbonara
The wife and I had the best Christmas date night here with 4 courses including the spinach & artichoke bruschetta, Italian wedding soup with focaccia bread, sensational pasta carbonara, and the fresh to order zeppoles with hazelnut spread and some coffee’s to top it all off. The experience was great from the service, to the ambiance, to the food!
They had a special where if you spent so much money on a gift card you’d get a free $20 gift card on top – and we didn’t think twice about doing it. We can’t wait to come back!

Pasta and sauce are made fresh on site
Service, food and restaurant went above and beyond expectations. We are visiting from Florida and stumbled upon this gem. The best meal we both have had in a long long time. The restaurant was so busy and wasn’t sure how great the service would be. Even with tables full, they made us feel like the only ones I. The restaurant. I got the beef gnocchi and my other half for the lasagna. Pasta and sauce is made fresh on site and did not disappoint. We have an unplanned trip in our future just to come back here 🤤

3. Iaria’s Italian Restaurant

Website: https://iariasrestaurant.com/
Address: 317 South College Avenue
Contact: (317) 638-7706
Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Iaria’s Italian Restaurant is the place I would send someone who wants old-school comfort over trendy presentation. This family-run spot has been around for generations, and that history shows in the menu.
Most meals come with soup or salad, which makes the overall value feel better than a lot of newer restaurants in the city. The sauces are made in-house, and the dining room has that retro neighborhood feel that makes you want to linger over a basket of bread.
The drawback is that service can slow down a bit, especially around takeout. Some guests also feel certain portions run smaller than they expected for the price.
Even so, the spaghetti, lasagna, and seafood pasta options make it easy to understand why so many locals keep coming back.
Went to dinner here for the second time
My girlfriend and I went to dinner here for the second time and the Piccata Grouper and Seafood Pasta was excellent. The Tiramisu was also delicious. Wish they had a restaurant on the Northside too.

Thanks for an amazing meal
I have been craving pasta and clams for a while now, and finally decided to satisfy that craving today. It’s been years since I’ve been to Iaria’s, and it turned out to be the right choice. Perfectly cooked pasta, a mildly spicy, wine cream sauce, with a hint of parsley and citrus, served with Littleneck Clams in their shells on top, and plenty of chopped clams in the sauce. It was incredible! The atmosphere and service can’t be beat, either! Thanks for an amazing meal, I’ll be back soon!

4. Bocca

Website: https://www.boccaindy.com/
Address: 122 East 22nd Street
Contact: (317) 426-2045
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM; Sunday, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Bocca is always the right move when I want pasta with a more modern date-night edge.
The room is small, stylish, and a little buzzy, and the hidden speakeasy downstairs gives the whole night more personality.
On the food side, the menu leans creative, with richer sauces, chef-driven pasta dishes, and strong cocktail pairings that make the experience feel more celebratory than routine.
Service also gets a lot of praise, which matters when a compact restaurant is turning tables quickly.
The biggest downside is access. Because seating is limited, walk-ins usually have a harder time, and reservations feel close to essential if you want a regular table at prime dinner hours.
There has also been an isolated food safety complaint, though that seems far from the norm.
When it all comes together, though, Bocca is one of the more memorable pasta nights in town.
The atmosphere was very fun, and the service was incredible
We had an excellent time celebrating our anniversary at Bocca! The atmosphere is very fun, and the service was incredible. The pace of plates coming out and being taken away was beyond professional and impressive. We LOVED the mussels, oysters, and Della Casa pasta. Daphne did a great job, as did all the kind ladies that helped out. We had a great time, and can’t wait to return!

I loved them, had a little spice and were so yummy
Absolutely delicious . Started with the mussels and it was a huge portion . Make sure you ask for extra bread . I loved them, had a little spice and were so yummy . Then we split a shrimp pasta in a lobster sauce and it was even more delicious ! We sat in the bar area and the bartender did not disappoint . She suggested some amazing cocktails , she was attentive and her overall service was great ! Can’t wait to return !

5. Vicino

Website: https://www.vicinoindy.com/
Address: 350 Massachusetts Avenue, Suite 150
Contact: (317) 798-2492
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM; Friday-Saturday, 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Vicino is an easy pick when I want pasta in the middle of the Massachusetts Avenue (Mass Ave) energy. The space feels polished without being stuffy, and the patio is a nice bonus when the weather cooperates.
What keeps this place interesting is the range. You can stop in for lunch, brunch, happy hour, or dinner, and you’ll find something well-suited. The menu also clearly marks vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices, which makes group dining much easier.
The downside is execution. Some diners have mentioned overcooked noodles or seafood sauces that taste too fishy or thin in depth, especially during busier stretches.
Still, the broader schedule, stylish setting, and contemporary Italian approach make Vicino a good option when you want pasta and a lively downtown atmosphere.
Everything was excellent
This Italian restaurant is such a great addition to Mass Ave! The sangria is made with peach bourbon and tasted delicious. We ordered two appetizers, the calamari and the panzanella salad which were both great. For dinner I had the pasta carbonara and finally the tiramisu for dessert. Everything was excellent and we will definitely be coming back!

Perfect for a relaxed but refined night out
The shrimp pasta arrives rich with garlic, butter, and a subtle tang of white wine, while the veal osso buco that follows is tender and thoughtfully seasoned. The velvet seating and warm tones give the place a cozy, elegant vibe without feeling overdressed—perfect for a relaxed but refined night out.
