1. Azmyth Recording Studios

Website: https://azmythrecording.com/
Address: 5130 Brouse Ave
Contact: (317) 281-3670
Hours: Available 24/7
Walking into a studio with a national artist pedigree instantly inspires confidence, and this location pairs that reputation with a tech school and an on-site event space.
The standout feature is their Chamber Live Room, which delivers amazing natural reverb for drums and live bands. They also provide access to a fully refurbished vintage Neve VR console for that classic analog warmth.
Musicians will love that the engineers treat clients as creative partners, offering everything from beat production to voiceover services.
The main catches? Their cancellation policy is strict. If you miss the 24-hour notice, you lose your deposit.
Additionally, they enforce strict full payment requirements at the time of service, with potential late fees.
I went to the school of music technology. By far the best musical decision I’ve ever made. World class sound engineers with impressive resumes and experience. State of the art technology and great recording environment. The teaching was super specific to my needs and Ryan, Carey, max, Isiah, covered every question I had and some. My knowledge of recording and mixing as a whole has skyrocketed and made me realize flaws in my technique. These guys are true professionals and if you’re thinking about recording here or going to school I can promise this is the best studio in Indiana.

2. Postal Recording

Address: 1144 S Belmont Ave
Contact: (317) 324-8273 | [email protected]
Hours: Available 24/7
If you’re chasing that warm, classic sound, this sprawling 3,000-square-foot studio really delivers. Their specialty is tracking straight to a two-inch analog tape machine, which is a dream for anyone after authentic tonal character.
Rates are pretty straightforward and transparent. $75 an hour gets you the engineer and all the necessary tape or hard drive rentals included.
When I dropped by while a friend was recording, the on-site musician accommodations immediately caught my eye. The six-bed loft is spacious and comfortable.
The natural acoustics in the converted post office also give the space a unique vibe that’s hard to replicate.
The studio’s vintage instrument collection is extensive. Even if you’re just experimenting with a riff you learned from a piano lesson last week, there’s plenty to play around with.
That said, they require a two-hour minimum booking, which can feel steep if you just need a quick session.
It also would be great if they offer project-based pricing instead of just sticking strictly to hourly rates. Overall, it’s a studio that clearly values sound quality and musician comfort, but it works best for those planning longer sessions.
Just wrapped up recording at Postal over the weekend. Can’t say enough amazing things about this place. From the amazing selection of gear to the Engineer’s Alex and Tyler. Very affordable studio for the quality of equipment and production level. We had a phenomenal experience and will return!

Amazing recording studio in Indianapolis. Alex, Tyler, and Jake really know the gear and how to get great sounds out of it. Quite a few options for tracking to tape and a very nice pro-tools set up. Extremely affordable for the space, equipment, and staff.

3. Round Table Recording Company

Website: https://thertrc.com/
Address: 6345 Carrollton Ave
Contact: (317) 981-5351 | [email protected]
Hours: Daily 8:00AM–12:00AM
Round Table Recording Company doubles as both a multi-room recording complex and an education hub, and it shows in the way everything is set up.
The massive control room revolves around a flagship Audient ASP8024 console, which feels solid and intuitive for tracking or mixing.
Musicians chasing media placements will love that there’s an in-house team handling custom music licensing and sync. Podcasters and content creators, on the other hand, get their own dedicated suites.
One highlight is the acoustically designed suite built just for their 1973 Yamaha C7 Grand Piano. It’s a great treat for anyone who wants that classic grand tone.
The studio also makes it easy to plan projects with clearly defined, flat-rate production packages.
On the flip side, using the in-house guitars or drum kits comes with extra rental fees. The grand piano also requires a mandatory tuning charge.
Noah and Joey were awesome, very very professional and knowledgeable, these guys are awesome. Loved the whole vibe of the studio, very clean, and well put together, I was blown away with the overall experience. Would recommend to anyone who is trying to do anything that involves audio recording especially music, Thanks guys!

4. Playground Productions Studio

Website: https://playgroundindy.com/
Address: 5529 Bonna Ave, Ste 10
Contact: (317) 678-7529 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday to Sunday By Appointment Only
For podcasters and audiobook narrators, finding transparent pricing can be a challenge. Playground Productions Studio simplifies it with dedicated spoken-word rates across three distinct recording rooms.
The studio’s gear setup is equally impressive for bands. It allows artists to track up to 24 channels simultaneously, making it ideal for full-band sessions.
During a recent vocal session, I was struck by their extensive microphone locker and thoughtfully designed isolation room. It clearly supports a professional recording experience.
Beyond recording, the studio also doubles as a cultural hub. They offer unique extras like professional hand drum repair and school presentations.
Another nice touch is that any unused tracking time can roll over into your mixing phase, giving you more flexibility to finish your project.
On the downside, there’s a firm no same-day master policy, so you can’t walk out with a finished track immediately.
They also enforce strict forfeiture if you exceed your booked time by more than two hours.
I had an incredible experience recording my Audible book at Playground Productions Studio. Adam was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re looking for a place to record your Audible book, this is the place!

I live in a housing addition next to a few senior citizens and an RN with ridiculous hours. So, recording drums, guitars or vocals at optimum volumes isn’t a reality for me. I met Adam at Playground’s open house a couple years ago & thought then “this is a pretty stellar facility for what they charge”. I’ve asked around too. You’ll be hard pressed to find another studio with comparable years of experience, a flexible staff of engineers or service catalog. Adam is a veteran musician himself & has an Ivy League degree in music. You simply won’t find better accommodations.

5. CityDump Records

Website: http://www.citydumprecords.com/
Address: 1801 Howard St
Contact: (317) 506-3135 | [email protected]
Hours: Daily 9:00AM–12:00AM
Budget-conscious indie musicians will love what this studio has to offer. Studio B, their DIY space, starts at just $15 an hour. That’s such a steal considering the building’s history of hosting platinum artists.
Even in the affordable rooms, you still get access to high-end tools like the MDL 4678 Whisper Booth. This makes vocal tracking incredibly clean and free from any acoustic interference.
Meanwhile, the main control room is loaded with premium analog outboard gear. It’s perfect for adding warmth to digital mixes.
Traveling artists can also make the most of the on-site Airbnb-style rental. It’s a creatively decorated spot that doubles as a convenient retreat.
That said, Studio B comes with a BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) policy, so you’ll need to provide your own setup and software. Management also runs a strict tardiness policy and doesn’t take responsibility for storing session data.
This studio has a really dope vibe! I recorded with Icon and I have to say this man is a mixing genius. Expect nothing else but greatness from recording at this place, I recommend any artist to record here if you want some great quality.
- Chris Hester | Google Reviews
I’ve recorded once with Icon as the engineer and sat in on many sessions. He does amazing mixing and is very thorough. All of the engineers are very patient and great at what they do. The studio is full of color, good vibes and very cool murals done by local artists. It’s just an overall amazing spot to record.
