1. Long’s Bakery

Website: https://longsbakery.com/
Address: 1453 N Tremont St, Indianapolis, IN 46222
Contact: 317-632-3741
Hours: 7 days a week, 5:30 am – 10:00 pm
Operating as a multi-generational family business since 1955, Long’s Bakery crafts fresh yeast donuts from scratch all day long.
We stopped by early on a Tuesday to grab a half-dozen and immediately understood why the locals consider this an absolute staple. Their signature glazed rings have a melt-in-your-mouth texture that sets a high bar for local baked goods.
We really appreciate how the staff works continuously to ensure a fresh batch is always ready for the morning rush. The commitment to traditional recipes also ensures incredibly consistent quality week after week.
That said, their strict cash-only policy requires a quick trip to the ATM before you get in line. The high demand also means you will likely wait outside during peak breakfast hours.
Incredible, get yourself a dozen donuts
I absolutely love the Long’s bakery their blueberry Donuts Maple Donuts hot yeast Donuts everything there is incredible get yourself a dozen donuts and a quart of milk and make your body happy. Absolutely best donut spot in all of Indy maybe the world.. but make sure you bring cash they don’t accept anything but..go go now..

Delicious and are absolutely worth waiting in line for!
I love the PB&j donuts! 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩 The staff are super great at their job and get you through the line quickly, yet are super patient if you are indecisive like me. All of the donuts are delicious and are absolutely worth waiting in line for! Parking is a little rough, and I’m not sure that they have accessible parking at all. This is my favorite donut shop. Will return 100x.

2. Parlor Doughnuts

Website: https://www.parlordoughnuts.com/
Address: 805 W 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46202, USA
Contact: (317) 600-3254
Hours: Monday – Saturday 6:30AM – 6:30PM, Sunday 6:30AM – 4:00PM
Parlor Doughnuts introduces a proprietary layered dough that creates a flaky exterior with a remarkably fluffy center. This unique approach breaks away from standard cake textures to offer both sweet and savory combinations.
A friend recently insisted I try their maple bacon flavor, and the buttery layers completely changed my expectations for a morning pastry.
What’s even better is that the menu thoughtfully includes vegan and ketogenic options to accommodate a range of dietary needs.
The shop itself features a modern cafe aesthetic perfect for sitting down with a specialty coffee.
Unfortunately, the customer service can feel a bit disengaged depending on who is working the counter. Staff members sometimes appear distracted during busy shifts, leading to an unwelcoming environment.
SUPER, SUPER good.
I became an advocate of Parlor Donuts from the first bite. The natural, robust flavors and pastry texture exceeded my expectations. Not a traditional cake donut, and I am absolutely OK with that. SUPER, SUPER good. And the coconut latte was amazing. Good job to the 3 brothers starting this. It will be an Indy staple soon enough. 👏👏👏

The flavor combinations are brilliant
What a unique and lovely donut experience. Think of a kronut on steroids. The flavor combinations are brilliant, combined with a delicious coffee. A really nice change-up from the run of the mill donut joint. And I’ve been to donut joints all over the nation. I would say this new kid on the block is the donut class of Indy.

3. Pana Donuts

Website: https://panadonut.com/
Address: 5370 E Thompson Rd Suite A, Indianapolis, IN 46237
Contact: 317-757-8933
Hours: Monday – Sunday 5:00 AM–6:00 PM
Pana Donuts has become a go-to option for customers looking for a hybrid breakfast stop, offering handcrafted donuts alongside breakfast sandwiches.
The early 5 a.m. opening time every day makes it especially convenient for commuters who need something quick before work.
The shop prepares its dough in-house by hand, aiming for a soft, fresh texture that works well for both classic donuts and filled varieties.
In recent years, the menu has expanded beyond baked goods to include boba tea and smoothies. This helps it attract more customers throughout the day rather than just the morning rush.
Plus, with multiple locations across the city, picking up a quick dozen is generally easy and accessible.
On the downside, the pastries’ flavor profile can sometimes fall flat, leaving them somewhat bland. A few visitors have also noted occasional inconsistencies with order accuracy during the morning rush.
Price is reasonable and donuts are A+
The go to donut shop in Avon- Avoid the chain “Dunkin Donuts” and go to a place that has quality, and serves with a smile. Price is reasonable and donuts are A+
My favorite it the apple fritters but even the plain yeast are top quality. Enjoy getting fat off the sweets of life!

Last year loved their pumpkin donut
Went to Pana this morning to snag donuts to drop off to friends for watching our dogs. Had the nicest cashier! Greeted with a smile in the door, had a short nice conversation and while they’re a gift and I can’t try them the donuts smell delicious. So happy to have this cute shop close to our home. Can’t wait for the fall, last year loved their pumpkin donut

4. Rise’n Roll Bakery

Website: https://risenroll.com/locations-nora/
Address: 1115 E 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240
Contact: (317) 207-9670
Hours: Monday – Friday 6 AM–3 PM, Saturday 7 AM–5 PM
Rise’n Roll Bakery builds its menu around traditional Amish baking methods, focusing on preservative-free recipes and old-fashioned preparation techniques.
That approach gives their products a more homemade feel compared to typical commercial bakeries, with richer, denser flavor profiles.
The standout item is their Cinnamon Caramel Donut, which has developed a strong local following and often draws repeat customers on its own.
Alongside donuts, the bakery also offers a broad selection of classic pies and jams that reinforce its homestyle identity.
We love the staff just as much as the donuts too. Every time we dropped by, they maintained a welcoming and friendly service.
Some baked items, though, can have uneven ingredient distribution, particularly when it comes to fruit fillings.
The pricing also runs a bit high for customers expecting standard bakery rates.
Flavorful, but not overwhelmingly sweet
I love donuts. LOVE donuts. And Rise’n Roll isn’t kidding when they say their cinnamon caramel donut is America’s favorite donut. So moist and flavorful, but not overwhelmingly sweet. They have a ton of other flavors as well, but make sure you try at least one cinnamon caramel. The shop is adorable with lots of Amish foods to purchase – we picked up some cinnamon rolls for a family breakfast and they were gone in minutes. Very friendly staff, excellent bakery.

The staff is kind and efficient
I am a loyal Longs Donuts fan, BUT Rise n’ Roll is a very close second. This location is easy to navigate and clean. The few times I have visited in store, the staff is kind and efficient. The donuts are FRESH and tasty! The cinnamon caramel donut is my favorite! The parking lot is kind of tight during busy times, but there is usually a spot available somewhere in the lot!

5. Taylor’s Bakery

Website: https://taylorsbakeryindy.square.site/
Address: 6216 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220
Contact: (317) 251-9575
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday 7am to 5pm
Taylor’s Bakery has been operating for over a century, building its reputation on scratch-made recipes passed down through multiple generations.
Instead of chasing trends, the bakery sticks to a traditional approach. They focus on dependable, familiar favorites.
They are especially known for their custom cakes, which remain a highlight for celebrations, alongside a daily selection of donuts and other classic baked goods.
Its long history has helped the shop build strong community ties and a loyal customer base that appreciates its straightforward, no-frills focus on the food itself.
The main downside is consistency in some of the smaller items. Certain baked goods can come out uneven, with occasional issues like tough dough or inconsistent glaze application.
Some fillings also don’t always match the depth of flavor found in their more popular specialty cakes, which remain their strongest offering.
Great donuts and pastries!
We already know Taylor’s has great donuts and pastries! But what a cake 🥳 year after year their icing design is amazing 🤩 and if you’re considering trying yellow cake with chocolate icing 🧁 it’s delicious!

I can always count on the freshness
Taylor bakery has the best white cupcakes I’ve ever tasted, hands-down. I wanted a couple donuts with my coffee this morning and I can always count on the freshness and great taste of the donuts they make.
