We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Speed: We looked at how quickly a company responds to standard calls and emergencies. You don’t want to wait days for help when your furnace dies in January.

Technician Expertise: We checked if the technicians have proper certifications and deep knowledge of different systems. A well-trained professional can diagnose tricky problems on the first visit.

Pricing Transparency: We assessed whether the business gives clear and upfront cost estimates. It’s important to avoid hidden fees or aggressive upselling during a stressful breakdown.

Customer Satisfaction: We considered the overall experiences of past clients regarding punctuality and cleanliness. A great company leaves your home clean and stands behind its completed work.

Living in Indianapolis means your HVAC system has to handle a little bit of everything. One season you’re battling sticky summer heat, and the next you’re trying to stay warm through freezing temperatures.

That’s why having a reliable HVAC company on call can make a huge difference when something goes wrong. But with so many options out there, it’s tough to know who’ll actually show up on time and do quality work.

To help narrow down your options, I put together this guide to the best HVAC services in Indianapolis.

1. Appel Heating & Air Conditioning

Website: https://appelheat.com/

Address: 530 South Rangeline Road, Carmel

Contact: 317-846-0434

If you’re not sure whether your HVAC system needs a repair or a complete replacement, Appel makes that decision a lot easier.

Instead of immediately steering you toward the most expensive option, they take the time to evaluate your system and explain what makes the most sense for your situation.

Being a local family-owned company, they also understand how unpredictable Indiana weather can be.

I had a furnace issue last winter, and what I appreciated most was how straightforward the technician was. He walked me through the efficiency ratings while explaining the pros and cons of each option.

He also gave me the information I needed without any sales pressure.

The only downside is that they don’t offer 24/7 emergency service, so if your system quits in the middle of the night, you may have to wait until regular business hours for help.

Pros

  • Family-owned and deeply accountable
  • Technicians help assess efficiency upgrades
  • Offers special promotions and financing
  • Uses objective evaluation frameworks

Cons

  • No 24-hour emergency service available

Customer Reviews:

Very reliable

I have had an off-season maintenance plan with Appel for many years. When we moved from Westfield to Greenfield in 2021, we brought Appel along. The maintenance plan ensures that we will get the best performance and life from our equipment. Appel has always been locally owned and very reliable. I highly recommend Appel. They served us well in Westfield and now in Greenfield!

The tech even explained all the pressures and showed me the report from his test

We used Appel for a second opinion on our HVAC. We were told by another company that our whole system needed replaced and that we were low on coolant, probably due to a leak. Quoted $11k. Appel sent a tech out for a second opinion (at no charge), and our system tested just fine. The tech even explained all the pressures and showed me the report from his test. He did a thorough check, observed the unit run for over 20mins and determined our system is just fine. We are so thankful! We will be canceling our maintenance plan with the other company, and will be using Appel from now on. Thank you!!

2. Daikin Applied

daikin-applied

Website: http://www.daikinapplied.com/

Address: 5524 West Raymond St

Contact: 317-241-5340

If you’re managing a large commercial property, Daikin Applied operates on a completely different scale than most HVAC companies.

Their focus is on industrial and institutional facilities that need reliable climate control across large spaces. They back that up with advanced systems that help track performance, monitor equipment, and forecast operating costs.

What makes them especially appealing is their focus on efficiency and sustainability. Their equipment is designed to improve indoor air quality while using refrigerants with a lower environmental impact.

A property manager I know relied on their rental equipment during a major facility upgrade, and it ended up being a lifesaver. The temporary system handled the building’s demands without missing a beat, allowing operations to continue as usual.

Just take note that Daikin Applied isn’t geared toward residential customers. If you need a quick furnace or air conditioning repair at home, you’ll be better off working with a company that focuses on residential HVAC service.

Pros

  • Specializes in heavy-duty commercial equipment
  • Uses proprietary asset management software
  • Provides comprehensive rental solutions
  • Manufactures energy-efficient and sustainable products

Cons

  • Not ideal for residential home repairs

3. One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning

Website: https://www.onehourheatandair.com/

Address: 4040 Industrial Blvd

Contact: 317-434-4854

If you’re the type who values fast service, this company does a good job setting expectations from the start. Their on-time guarantee means technicians are expected to arrive as scheduled.

Plus, their trucks are stocked with commonly needed parts, so many repairs can be completed during the first visit instead of requiring a follow-up appointment.

Another thing homeowners tend to appreciate is their focus on preventive maintenance. During tune-ups, the technicians take time to inspect key components and point out potential issues before they turn into expensive repairs.

That extra attention can be especially reassuring when summer heat or winter cold is at its worst.

The main concern some customers mention is the sales approach.

While many appreciate the recommendations, others feel there can be pressure to consider maintenance plans or system replacements when they were only looking for a routine service call.

Pros

  • Strict on-time arrival guarantee
  • Fully stocked trucks for immediate repairs
  • Proactive system tune-ups
  • Transparent communication about air quality

Cons

  • Pushy about selling paid maintenance contracts

Customer Reviews:

Very friendly and kind

I set up an appointment for my mother as I am out of state. A technician, Robert came out, evaluated the issue with her geothermal unit, provided options for repair, and options for replacement. Very friendly and kind with my mom. Robert helped set up an appointment same day with an estimator, Chad….In short he was OUTSTANDING! Very patient with my mom and I as he provided several options. We ultimately picked the one that fit our budget and needs. Several payment options were provided. Install was scheduled for the following day AND completed without a hiccup! Thank you so much for One Hour and their team for taking care of us!

Their technicians are all very capable

This is an excellent company to work with. Their technicians are all very capable and personable. They were meticulous and did not rush but were efficient and made sure they took time to explain anything we needed to know. They worked long hours so we were not inconvenienced and they kept us informed about arrival times. We have used them for other installations and routine services for years. Also, their pricing is very fair and less than other estimates.

4. Broad Ripple Service Experts

broad-ripple-service-experts

Website: https://www.serviceexperts.com/

Address: 8227 Northwest Boulevard Suite 300

Contact: 317-649-8983

Hours: Open 24 hours

Broad Ripple Service Experts combines round-the-clock emergency service with a strong understanding of the unique heating and cooling challenges found in Indianapolis homes.

Their technicians are comfortable working on everything from older radiator systems to modern HVAC units, making them a versatile choice for a wide range of properties.

Another thing homeowners appreciate is their equipment leasing program, which allows you to install a new system without a large upfront expense.

Their service vehicles are also stocked with many commonly needed parts and tools, so there’s a good chance repairs can be completed during the first visit rather than requiring a follow-up appointment.

However, the administrative side of the company doesn’t always receive the same praise as the technicians. Some customers mention communication issues when scheduling appointments or managing their accounts.

Even so, their technical expertise and emergency availability continue to make them a popular choice throughout the Indianapolis area.

Pros

  • 24/7 emergency repair availability
  • Deep experience with older local homes
  • Zero upfront cost leasing program
  • Well-stocked vehicles for single-visit fixes

Cons

  • Poor administrative communication

Customer Reviews:

He was very professional and expertly answered all of our questions

Derek came out on a Saturday afternoon to replace our sump pump and a seal on our toilet. We were thankful that he arrived quickly! He worked with his manager, Josh, to quote us parts that were very affordable. He was very professional and expertly answered all of our questions. We will definitely use him in the future for all of our plumbing needs! I highly recommend giving Broad Ripple Service Experts a call.

The work area was clean

I had a great experience with Gregg. During my fall service, he brought to my attention that some mold was beginning to form. To be conservative, since I am allergic to mold, I had the source thoroughly cleaned. When Gregg came back, there was more than the first time, and so he recommended an ultraviolet system to play it safe. I had to leave for an appointment, and when I came back, the system was up and running, and the work area was clean. That’s the kind of service I like.

5. Airtron Heating & Air Conditioning

airtron-heating-air-conditioning

Website: https://airtron.com/indianapolis/

Address: 1230 S Post Rd

Contact: 317-489-0663

Hours: Open 24 Hours

For those who prefer staying ahead of problems instead of dealing with unexpected breakdowns, Airtron Heating & Air Conditioning is worth considering.

They put a strong focus on preventive maintenance and are especially skilled at tracking down airflow issues that often go unnoticed.

Things like leaky ductwork and uneven temperatures can make a home uncomfortable, and their technicians do a good job identifying the root cause rather than just treating the symptoms.

On top of that, they install smart thermostats that can help improve comfort while keeping utility costs in check.

I like that they offer 24/7 emergency service, which can be a huge relief when your heating or cooling system fails during extreme weather.

The only catch is that their advertised zero-dollar covered repairs aren’t automatically included. To qualify for that benefit, you’ll need to enroll in one of their ongoing maintenance plans.

If you’re already interested in long-term system care, though, that may not be a dealbreaker.

Pros

  • Extends equipment life through routine checkups
  • Fixes specialized airflow issues and hot spots
  • Reliable 24/7 emergency weather response
  • Installs smart thermostats for better utility control

Cons

  • Zero-dollar covered repairs require a paid plan commitment

Customer Reviews:

He was able to answer any questions

Dinzova Cherput was extremely courteous, professional, and very informative. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to come out to service our furnace. He was able to answer any questions I had and gave good advice on making our furnace more efficient. We will definitely request him next time.

He was very thorough and very informative

Garry Martin came out today to give me a price on a whole house humidifier. He was very thorough and very informative and gave me all of my options. Great representative of Aaron and would definitely have him back again. Should I decide to buy their product.
