Starting your day with a nourishing plate sets the tone for everything else. Cafe Patachou answers this call by offering a premium, made-from-scratch breakfast utilizing local and organic ingredients.

This commitment to fresh sourcing creates dishes with vibrant, clean flavors. They also have a customizable menu that accommodates various dietary needs effortlessly.

You’ll appreciate the elevated yet approachable atmosphere here. It feels like dining with a close friend. However, the immense popularity of this location often results in long wait times during peak weekend hours.

The bustling environment can also generate high noise levels, making quiet conversation difficult.

Despite that, the friendly staff manages the crowds well, ensuring a pleasant visit once seated.

Pros

  • High-quality organic ingredients
  • Wide, customizable menu options
  • Excellent local reputation
  • Efficient self-serve coffee

Cons

  • Long peak-hour wait times
  • Elevated interior noise levels

Very good and filling

Cute cafe located in downtown Indianapolis.  Came here a few times for breakfast. The wait staff is very nice. I loved the  Bruce’s Granola Breakfast.  It was yogurt topped with Granola, strawberries,  blueberries, and a bruleed banana.  Very good and filling.  For coffee, I tried their English Toffee Latte and the Peppermint Latte. Both were pretty good. In the 2nd day of dining their, the staff recognized me, which was pretty cool.

Vibe is lively and fun

Bright, welcoming café with a creative brunch menu that satisfies vegetarians, vegans and classic breakfast lovers alike. The self-serve coffee is a bonus, and the vibe is lively and fun. I have the make your own omelet and it was good. Pricing leans upscale for a brunch spot, but the fresh ingredients and imaginative dishes make it worth a visit

Website: https://eatyolk.com/

Address: 220 E. South Street

Contact: 317-632-YOLK (9655)

Hours: Daily 7:30 am – 2:00 pm

Craving a morning meal that breaks away from the ordinary requires a menu built on imagination. Yolk delivers precisely that through a highly creative, innovative breakfast menu featuring items like red velvet French toast.

But their drinks are nothing to scoff at either. I recently visited this spot and was completely blown away by their signature private-label premium coffee.

What I like most is how diners receive generous portions that satisfy even the biggest appetites.

The vibrant urban dining experience perfectly matches the energetic downtown vibe. But be aware that the bustling atmosphere often leads to a cramped feeling near the entrance during peak times.

You might experience minor delays in seating when arriving with a large group.

Pros

  • Highly creative breakfast menu
  • Signature private-label coffee
  • Generous meal portions
  • Engaging open kitchen layout

Cons

  • Crowded entrance area
  • Occasional seating delays

The portions were generous

Great spot for breakfast or brunch! The menu has a lot of variety (great gluten free options), and everything we tried was fresh and tasty. The portions were generous, and the service was friendly and quick. Convenient location with a nice, upbeat atmosphere.

Address: 1001 E 54th Street

Contact: 317-255-3800

Hours: Tuesday – Sunday 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Good Morning Mama’s delivers a repurposed 1960s gas station vibe alongside creative breakfasts with a global twist. The nostalgic malt-shop atmosphere pairs wonderfully with adventurous dishes like Hawaiian-style Loco Moco.

Guests frequently praise the massive portions and budget-friendly morning sips. They usually enjoy these in the outdoor patio, which provides a lovely setting for warmer days.

Unfortunately, some visitors have experienced issues with food arriving lukewarm rather than piping hot. A few have also mentioned occasional oversights regarding the cleanliness of the provided tableware.

Despite these minor hiccups, the warm community keeps the tables full.

Pros

  • Unique retro station atmosphere
  • Eclectic global menu twists
  • Budget-friendly morning beverages
  • Inviting outdoor patio space

Cons

  • Inconsistent food temperatures
  • Occasional cleanliness oversights

Food was amazing and reasonably priced

We were looking for a cheap and delicious breakfast spot and found this place. Food was amazing and reasonably priced, and the service was incredible. I will be going back to try new things as often as possible. I got a breakfast burrito and my mom got an omelette and both were fresh and well made. I never usually get that kind of thing, but I definitely don’t regret my choice. Huge fan and highly recommend.

Good place to bring family or kids.

Great atmosphere with colorful decorations and murals, and unique breakfast items. Good place to bring family or kids. Parking can be kind of limited during busiest days but food makes it worth it.

Hours: Monday – Sunday 7:00 am – 2:00 pm

Another Broken Egg Cafe provides a chef-inspired, upscale brunch concept focusing on southern-influenced culinary innovation. Here, diners enjoy a visually appealing presentation that feels highly deliberate.

I ordered their shrimp and grits last month, and the rich flavors completely justified the visit. Their menu is extensive and customizable, ensuring everyone finds a suitable plate.

They also have a full bar with hand-crafted cocktails, making this location ideal for celebrations.

Just note that you may encounter inconsistent service speeds depending on the shift. The elevated approach also comes with a higher price point compared to standard diners.

Pros

  • Chef-inspired southern dishes
  • Full bar with cocktails
  • Excellent dietary accommodations
  • Beautiful food presentation

Cons

  • Higher average price point
  • Inconsistent service speeds

One of our favorite spots to grab a yummy breakfast

We love Another Broken Egg Cafe. Our server this morning was Brian. Besides Brian’s awesome beard, the food was fantastic. This is one of our favorite spots to grab a yummy breakfast. Don’t forget to get the grits. Even though Indiana is not known as a “grits state”, these guys really know how to make grits delish! And oh yeah, they have awesome coffee mugs too! You can even buy one and take it home with you. Thanks Brian for the excellent service.

DELICIOUS

Staff was all pleasant. Destiny was our waiter and was amazing. Great at multitasking and didn’t seem too overwhelmed with also being in charge of handling the bar. Food came fast and was DELICIOUS. The breakfast sausage was the best I’ve ever had.

5. Milktooth

milktooth

Website: https://milktoothindy.com/

Address: 534 Virginia Avenue

Contact: 317-986-5131

Hours: Friday – Monday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Adventurous palates require kitchens willing to experiment with traditional recipes. Milktooth answers that demand by offering a highly creative, chef-driven brunch that intentionally breaks traditional norms.

Standout items like Dutch baby pancakes keep the ever-changing menu exciting. They have globally inspired flavors that pair beautifully with locally sourced ingredients for a truly unique plate.

In fact, the artisan espresso bar alone makes the visit entirely worthwhile.

The converted garage setting here is popular, providing an eclectic ambiance for the morning crowd. But this popularity means you’ll likely face limited personal space in the communal seating layout.

Customers also note that the smaller portion sizes feel slightly misaligned with the higher overall costs.

Pros

  • Innovative seasonal menu
  • Premium local ingredient sourcing
  • Strong national culinary reputation
  • Excellent artisan espresso bar

Cons

  • Crowded communal seating
  • Smaller meal portion sizes
  • High overall meal costs
  • Varying service responsiveness

Customer service was excellent

This is a fantastic spot for breakfast! I had the waffles with eggs, and they were incredibly delicious, made from scratch. The customer service was excellent, and the outdoor seating near downtown Indy was lovely.

Quick to get your food out

Love Milktooth. The food is amazing and I’m going to miss the breakfast options. The saag paneer biscuits and gravy? Oh my GOSH. You’ll definitely have a wait if you don’t show up a little before they open but they are so quick to get your food out.
